Total Control1/2' x 1/8' Nomex High Temp BBQ gasket smoker pit seal, self stick

I installed this on the lid of my 22" Napolean kettle.Like some of the reviewers stated, you have to clean the surface well before applying the gasket. Unlike other reviewers, I just used sprayed some Method cleaner and wiped with some rags several times. Once the surface was squeaky clean, I applied the gasket let it sit overnight to form a seal.Next day I did a 600F burn and there was some minor smoke leakage. After examining the area, I just applied the gasket unevenly so the smoke leakage was user error. I carefully adjusted the gasket and the seal is more or less perfect.Not sure if this is the best gasket nor do I care. It works and 20 high temp burns later, there has been no noticeable issues.

I was skeptical of this product. I have an inexpensive Masterbuilt smoker and biggest complaint is constant tweaking of the temperature.I put this around both door openings and the difference is amazing. No smoke leaking out the sides and I can easily dial in the temperature and it stays there, makes long smokes so much easier. Also, the temperature recovers from opening the door to check the meat much fasterDid a pork butt, came out great. I would absolutely buy this product again.

Worked great for me. I actually got 2 applications out of this length of material which was a bonus. Used on WSM 18 and 22 smokers for the lid. Used on WSM 18 for the door. Night and day difference in performance and ability to maintain a steady temp. Highly recommended.I think the use of the product really comes down to understanding the product design and material, as well as really ensuring a proper installation.If you take the effort to ensure a good installation and the application of the product is reasonable you should see great results.Make sure the surface is cleaned and prepped appropriately. Make sure you don't have weird gaps or overlaps. Do not stretch the material as you go, this is a big one. Gently guide the material where you want it to go and make sure you relieve any tension as you continue to adhere it. Don't worry if you have to pick it up and restick it, I did this during install and the adhesive worked well. This may not be true for dirty surfaces, so clean it.Good luck and happy times.
