Clannad & Clannad After Story Complete Collection - Blu-ray

Not sure how Clannad past me by the first time, but I'm so glad to have able to watched Clannad at last! This is a Blu-ray remaster of Clannad, and Clannad: After Story, based on the Japanese Visual Novel of the same name. I won't spoil the story too much but essentially, Clannad is a coming of age series that charts the development and growth of Tomoya Okazaki and Nagisa Furukawa from their high school days into young adulthood. On the way, they meet a wide variety of people of which they help out, and in turn, they both help them grow to become their true person. Both Furukawa and Okazaki did not have the easiest of up-bringings for different reasons as the story will reveal!The story and the emotions of Clannad are truly incredible, I honestly mean that. The folks at Key and Kyoto Animation have done an absolute solid creating this show; trust me it goes from downright hilarious at some points, to the most heartbreaking and saddest in others. It is impossible to not cry at some point during both series, either happy or sad!I purchased the Limited Edition Box Set with the complete series, as well as the OAV’s included charting the Tomoyo and Kyou alternative universe side stories. The Box Set includes picture stills from the anime, as well as a small picture book of the characters containing some of the original drawings which were used in the show. Be advised though that they contain spoilers so I’d watch both series first before reading to avoid ruining the story!The show itself on the Blu-Ray is visually very good, the show has been up scaled to 16:9 Full HD with a Dolby TrueSound soundtrack. The visuals in After Story are slightly better than the first Clannad season, but as you come to expect from Kyoto Animation, they have a real knack of churning out visually stunning anime, and this is no different! Other reviewers state that the show is DTS 2.0 sound unlike predecessors of which were 5.1 surround sound, and actually Funimation/Manga Entertainment do market it as such on the box, as well as the sound menu on the discs. However, when I played the episodes there is definitely 5.1 audio, and even accessing the disc information during the show confirms that the audio is Dolby DTS 5.1 so I wonder if this was a marketing mistake by Funimation/Manga Entertainment. So do not worry, you get the same surround audio as you would have done with earlier releases of the show. The yellow subtitles don’t bother me either; I actually find them quite nostalgic! The OST of the show is awesome as well, with my favourite music being the closing track of Season 1 with the Big Dango Family and the opening track of After Story, A Song That Passes The Time!The only downside of the Box Set is that Extras are extremely lacking, only textless openings and closings of the show songs are given. But I’m not going to deduct that from the score because the entire show is a work of art.I could not recommend this more highly, and even after all the ups and downs, Clannad will leave you with a real big smile on your face, albeit with tears streaming! Check it out, you will not regret it!

This anime is a roller-coaster ride of emotions; the animation is very good; the stories are wonderful; the backgrounds are breath-taking and the music is hauntingly beautiful. You WILL enjoy the rideps you will need a large box of tissues

A classic anime that all anime enjoyers should see. Having both seasons in one nice package at a fantastic price was a near instant buy for me. This is also a EU copy so Americans don't buy.

this is an amazing slice of life anime and the dvd set lets it shine with its clear and crsip quality. the box set is bluray and doesnt really get scratch which is great, it also comes with some lovely photos of the main characters and a book showing you the art the was used in the anime. lastly, the price is pretty good for a 2 season anime with 2 ovas, definetly worth buyin if you like slice of life anime.

In 2 words, Absolutely Amazing!KyoAni simply can't make anything else than masterpieces and this one really went over the top with the 2nd season. After Story made me cry like a baby episode after episode.

Not exactly my cup of tea, but Amazon were offering the full 20-hour plus set for only £20.99 and so at just over a pound an hour I went for it. And I'm glad I did. I've watched it through with the Funimation English dub, which was good, and will watch the Japanese version with subs later.Funnily enough, having said that this is not the sort of thing I normally watch, one of my all-time anime favourites is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - it's a top ten mos def - and Clannad reminds me a bit of that - especially the personality of the main male character, Tomoya. Even the English voiceover sounds creepily similar.So if The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya gets a solid 5-stars, which IMHO it does, then this gets 4. Highly recommended!

Absolutely fab, definitive was of watching clannad. For years I've had to use the DVDs which was great but so happy to have clannad on bluray. One of the best shows you will ever watch.

Nice to add to the collection

The DVD arrived in mint condition and I love the box art and collectibles that came with the DVD, but it's a (Region B only) DVD. (It doesn't work on my Xbox console's Blu Ray) You need a Blu Ray player that plays region B movies or a Region Free Blu Ray player.

Como se puede comprobar son un total de 49 capítulos con una duración total de unos 1225 minutos (sale a unos 25 minutos por capítulo) y vienen 6 discos bien puestos en una caja más o menos estándar de Blu-ray con una funda de cartón para mayor protección. El código de Región es B y por lo tanto sería válido para Europa en general. Se puede mirar con Audio en Inglés Sin Subtítulos o Audio en Japonés con Subtítulos en Inglés.La verdad es que es muy buena serie, considerada en general una de las mejores series de anime que hay. Es una mezcla de drama, comedia, romance y ciencia ficción. Es una serie muy emotiva, te ríes mucho en general aunque hay momentos muy duros y también momentos muy enternecedores, es bastante difícil no terminar derramando algunas lágrimas. Es principalmente una serie realista aunque tiene algunas exageraciones y también algunos fenómenos paranormales. Es principalmente un drama, aunque con romance y humor.Está inspirada en un videojuego que tiene muy buenas valoraciones también. Por unos 40€ aproximadamente que me ha costado y siendo quien la vende la propia Amazon considero que es muy buena opción de compra.

My favorite TV show ever. Used to watch this when it aired. And nothing has ever taken it's place for me. And now it's finally in an affordable blu-ray box with Japanese voices and English subtitles. Wich wasn't the easiest to come by in Europe.Video and sound quality is great. However my only complaint with this blu-ray box is the hideous subtitles that come with it. They are very low res, pretty big, suffer from a very very low resolution and they are also the ugliest shade of yellow that you can imagine. The sleeve that carries the case is als one of flimsiest I've ever seen (but that isn't really important). Everything else is completely fine, great even.Also when I received it today the packaging was soaking wet. Luckily the plastic wrapper saved the product I've ordered.
