So it's both, depending on how you use it. Very nice. Also surprisingly quiet. (Still makes a fair bit of noise on the material of course). Cuts very well but also very limited in depth. Very very thin cut, same as my Bosch rotary "Dremel" tool blades. This is not a tool for careless beginners. Please learn how to use this safely before using it. For one, a proper full face shield is a must in my opinion.
