Your switch, I presume, switches 120VAC to the lathe if you live in the U.S., and 240VAC if you live in Europe, England, or a few other countries. It would make for a nice fireworks display if you connected this device to a higher AC voltage. What I did was to buy a small 120VAC to 12VDC low current power supply, and it was about the size of a small box of matches, perhaps an inch (25mm) on the longest side. The power supply and display come on with the switch, and report on my lathe's RPM just nicely. Hope this helps **Q: Can I use a 3/16" or 1/4" dia. magnet that is longer, so I can drill a hole in a pulley, so it can't fly off?** A: Your probably better off with a drop of 2 part epoxy or super glue. By drilling the pulley and replacing with a different density material you may change the balance and induce vibration.
