What the product description won't tell you...
What I was wondering before the purchase of my Step 2 sand and water table is "How much sand will I need?" I found a 25lb box of Sandtastik to be the perfect start. That's going to give me about two or three fills of the table, I don't fill it all the way up because it will just wind up on the ground that way. The sand that I've put in there has lasted over a month so far. The water siide fills with two gallons. What I knew before the package even arrived is that Step2 is a quality brand. It's sturdy and durable and we've always had good luck with their products. They really hold up to a lot of play and rough and tumble kids! With that expectation I have been completely satisfied with this purchase. It's sturdy and you can tell just by looking at the quality it will last many years. All the kids in the neighborhood play with it ages 2-13! It's a lot of fun and a great sensory activity for kids of all ages (even for moms!)I read problems people had with leaking and something about the plug being in or near the leg. That must have been an older model because there is no such problem with our table. No leaks! I also like the elastic cord that holds the cover on so nothing yucky gets in the table when it's not in use. The umbrella is nice but a little awkward in it's design the way it positions. You could secure it 100% but then not be able to take it off easily to put the cover on. So to be able to take it on and off, it slides sometimes or the kids pull it out. You don't want to leave it in the table unattended because it could literally blow away with a good wind. We don't use it often, our table isn't in a very sunny spot. Unfortunately younger kids see that as an opportunity to pour sand down the umbrella hole. Kids will be kids! I don't know exactly how they could improve on the design there but it's the only flaw I can see with the product. I'm going to fashion some sort of plug to solve the problem for us.Last but not least the assembly was a piece of cake. One person with an electric screwdriver/drill can get the job done. Yes you can use a manual screwdriver but it will take you forever and there are no pilot holes.

Different Modes/Levels of Play and a Blast for ALL!
I bought this table for my 3 1/2 year old daughter and 15 month old son. We have had this for over a month now and it is still a hit! We have only used it with water at this point on both sides as it is HOT where we live. When the weather cools down we plan to fill it with sand for days when it isn't rainy and we need to get outside for a bit.My son likes to take the toys out of the table and just splash in the water at this point. Where as my daughter has setup transportation services chauffeuring rubber ducks with the included boats around the city as she calls it. We also have used a previously purchased water wheel we got for cheap at the dollar store with great success. In general a few added toys you buy separately will probably be needed to hold the attention of anyone older then 2 years old. The water ways in the water side and roads are not very big so you want to think on the smaller side or they won't be able to be used on both sides. As others have said, we have had leaking from the legs (only the side made to hold water in!), but it has been a super slow leak and we still have some water even a few days later (just not enough to really play in). My husband and I did make sure we really pushed the legs in tight before screwing them in, so I think we were able to establish a pretty good seal. You need a POWER DRILL for sure to assemble...you have to pierce the plastic your self through several layers with the screw and I can't imagine that going right trying to do it by hand.Cannot say much about durability at this point, but for now I wouldn't be able to even tell that it has been used almost everyday for a month :)

... before buying this sand and water table and I'm glad we did because this one is amazing
We did a lot of research before buying this sand and water table and I'm glad we did because this one is amazing. First of all it is very big so it has lots of play area. We had four kids from age one to five all playing with it at the same time and they all loved it. We put a 50 pound bag of sand across both sides and it is holding up no problem and honestly would probably still hold more. I put my two year old 23 pound child in it with the 50 pounds of sand and it still probably could of held more no problem. The cover works great we have it outside and nothing has got into it yet, rain, animals, etc. the umbrella covers the entire play area which is great for sun protection and it is adjustable, we have it set to the tallest setting and I have to bend down a little bit but if I sit in a chair I fit under it no problem so I can play with my child. Despite it being so big it is still very easy to move when empty with 50 pounds of sand it still moves kind of easy considering. The only down fall to this table is to cover it up you have to remove the umbrella which for us wasn't a big deal because we just leaned it against our porch railing and it stayed. This is hands down one of the best sand and water tables I have ever seen or used and I would recommend this to anyone.
