It is very runny and it does not go far. If I were doing this again I’d just buy the large tub. I had about 12-18 linear feet of steam pipe insulation to cover. 3 cans barley was enough (but I used the re-wettable lag cloth as a base later of encapsulating. The combo worked fantastic. Ended up using the ABC as a base and then covering with 2-3 layers of gas grill paint for good measure. This was so my wife and I could work in our basement repairing joist and have a measure of safety if we accidentally bumped the insulation (which did happen occasionally). Stuff works as far as I know. I have the tape on my duct work.** A: I don't know about tape. We used it to seal an old furnace covered in asbestos. In general if you look at asbestos removal sites they recommend wetting the asbestos and insuring the moisture goes deep , this is only on the surface but usually asbestos is 1/2 in or more in depth so you should wet it so it is all moist and that will help prevent fibers for getting airborne.
