Fun camping stove
Fun camping/prep stove. Super practical gear for car camping, close walk-ins, canoeing, ect. Its not the best choice for long backpacking treks because there is a bit of weight /space issues with the kettle and stove. I like the ability to have a reliable mini generator while out on long camp outs. Its takes decent amount of time charge when it's an empty battery. If you don't have anywhere to be in a hurry, it's not a problem. Takes a while to cool off before it's able to be packed. Lots of pros and couple of cons. Over all, I think it's a great stove to have and add to your camping supplies.

Packs well, cooks fast, efficient and a good reliable tool
I've made many a thing on this grill. I've used it for weeks on end. Coffee, tea, homemade maple syrup. I've used it to boil oil for hot wings and onion rings. I've sautéed butter drenched vegetables. Seared tuna and steak. Soup, stew, and I even built an oven to make field biscuits and such. Has heated my tent with a flue pipe and reversed grill to act as a smoke collecting hood during an immense downpour and miserable days trapped tentside. Keeping the fire fed is key. Make it a habit. It's not meant to be left unattended. Feed it moderately every 2-6 minutes. Make sure it's on a stable surface so you may steady large pots, pans or woks. You get accustomed to how it works and an observant individual will have no issues. Charges large battery pack/ hub for the phones, earbuds, tablet and laptops when in use. Had one version 2 unit fail when the button slid off of the switch. Fixed in the field with light, smll tools. They replaced the unit when I returned from that trip. Owned two of these: the original back in 2014 (was stolen in 2021 while in the truck) and the 2. The first NEVER had an issue. The second only that one event. Excellent purchases. Three for me, two purchased for family members. If you're not patient, attentive and appreciative of this designs efficiency and versatility, it will not be worth your time. This is a tool, not a yuppie-boutique item for a ridiculous premium cost. Care for it, it'll care for you, as a good tool should. As an aside: I had a friend's jetboil product clog and fail during a trip. It could not be resolved in the field with anything on hand. Had I not packed the Biolite, we'd have eaten a lot of granola, trailmix, energy bars and berries from surrounding foliage. Customer service has been VERY ATTENTIVE. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great for backpacking/hiking
I bought this a couple of years ago and was just now able to actually test this due to living conditions/the lovely state of Massachusetts where people call the police over who’s leaves are in one another’s yard, but back to the review. One thing I really like about it is how it uses the heat from the fire to produce electricity and its ability to store that power to double as a battery bank. The battery bank uses a regular usb outlet so you can charge a wide range of devices with it between GPS, phones, radios, watches, literally anything that uses USB. Also, it shows how hot the fire is burning, how much electricity you have stored, and the fan speed. It does carry some weight behind it but not so much as to be a pain. Another thing that is nice, is that there is a fan that automatically turns on once there is enough heat. You can control the fan speed, just keep in mind that the faster the fan speed is, the hotter the fire will burn, which means the more fuel you will have to burn. However, with the fan on the coals burn down to ash and the heat shield helps keep the pit itself relatively warm to the touch temperature. Depending on your tolerance to heat you would be able to pick it up, dump the ash into a hole, and pack it up in a short amount of time. It packs up nice into a slime stuff sack so packing it is no trouble at all. One thing to note for the prepared is that there is some sound from the fan, it’s not too bad. All the videos that I watched made the sound of the fan seem far louder than it actually is. One thing that I would have like to see is the ability to add fuel either wood pellets or sticks/twigs without having to take your pot/pan/cup off the top and have to wait for the sticks/twigs to burn down (depending on length, I would ink go more than about 6 inches) but I’m not even sure this would be able to be done without a complete redesign. If you get the grill attachment this wont be an issue but I could see this being an issue for some like myself who try to not over pack and bring only what is needed. But other than the slight bit of noise from the fan and no feeding slot without the grill attachment. I find this to be a great piece of gear for those who want a piece of equipment that can produce electricity while also providing heat and means of cooking and boiling water.

Great Item!
Love this item. Surprised at how quickly a very hot fire was achieved and how quickly I was able to boil a pot of water. The only thing I would say was not as advertised was that it was not smoke free. In fact, there was A LOT of smoke. I was testing it in my fireplace and even then the whole room filled with smoke. I had to open a door and push it out with a fan. Other than that (which wouldn’t be an issue outside), everything was very simple to operate and worked well. I did not try the grill, so I don’t know about that.

Amazing concept - finally a gadget that works!
Every boyscout out ther will tell you "THIS IS A GADGET" But the thing is.. the thing works, and works surprisingly well. Most of all, the turbo charged burning of twigs is almost worth it in its own right. But the build in storage for extra amp hours.. well what not to like, we all have a smartphone. Don't let your imagination get carried away, the BioLite stove will not charge your laptop. its a smartphone maintainer and borderline if there are more than one desperate for a full charge. sooo. make friends, charge 75% and let the next have a sip of the good stuff. remember the last 10% takes way longer to charge as thats maintainance charging mostly. BioLite have a deeper mission and provide larger stoves to developing countries, the website mention having reached 3.5 million users.. I don't really imagine there have been made 3.5 million biolite stoves yet.. so maybe thats a "number of people impacted" by one family having a stove kinda figure? not sure. BUT BUT BUT.. I shipped one to a friend who is a farmer along a river in Thailand, the quick small fire ability and providing a charge for the phone.. well dang. they love the stove. I feel good having provided it. and I truly belive this is a product that ought to be much more available in developing countries. the price may be a bit steep. but honestly, BioLite actually being involved, I can pay a little extra for a proper bit of gear, and sleep a little better knowing a bit of my purcahse have made somebody elses life a little better as well. Still - its a gadget - but it works -

Zero stars for worthless item - beware!
I grew up in wilderness, have decades backpacking, camping, and now live off grid Alaska. Fire building *daily* in every kind of condition. Bought this for emergency power of cell phone on longer treks. There is a screamingly obvious design flaw which should have prevented them from releasing it to consumers. The problem: Heat rises. As you add fuel *from the top*, good luck keeping aflame all but the topmost layer —of twigs, bark, fire starter, half box of kitchen matches, doesn’t matter. I have snow. *What a forest fire ready to happen* in any dry climate as that topmost burning layer has a tendency to fly off the top in any gust of wind. When you light fire starter, drop it in the tank, and it goes out, that tells you something. I wish I could drop kick this back to the design geniuses who likely never tested this outside the studio. Very high tech look, very elaborate packaging, clearly well built, and totally useless. I cannot even imagine messing with it for the six or more hours to get even a start up charge on a phone. I don’t know what to do with it except haul it to the landfill — can’t afford to ship it back. I encourage anyone reading this to *avoid wasting your money on this*.

Love it.
I am blown away by this. I took it to use at a campsite mainly for the heat, light and ability to charge small appliances. It was very easy to light and keep warm by. Some people don’t like the fan noise but it doesn’t bother me. It came in useful to charge my phone, and I found it comforting to use when lone camping. It seems to be of a good sturdy construction and I like the design and the idea behind it being used in underdeveloped countries.

Smart design, stable heat, and surprisingly effective USB charging
After several uses, I’m impressed with how capable the BioLite CampStove is. The fan-assisted burn creates a stable, hot flame that cooks far more evenly than a typical twig stove. I consistently boiled water in under 5 minutes using nothing but dry twigs. The integrated power module isn’t meant to replace a power bank, but it does provide a steady trickle charge while cooking — ideal for keeping small devices topped up. Build quality is excellent, the controls are simple, and the unit feels durable enough for long-term field use. It’s not the lightest stove, and damp wood can reduce performance, but those are expected trade-offs. Overall, an extremely capable and thoughtfully engineered stove for campers who value function and reliability.
