It's made by some German company with an excellent reputation for these types of devices. The fact that it has a red light also appealed to me for my astronomy interests. The main light is SUPER Bright. By far the brightest camping lantern I have ever owned. I keep it on the shelf in my bedroom closet and when I turn it on it easily lights up the entire closet and significant parts of the room. Because of the 6 batteries,it will likely last a long time power wise. It isn't suitable for backpacking. The only light I have that I would recommend over this one for that, and general use, is the Streamlight "Siege". Similar in function, including the red light but much lighter in weight and smaller. The only negative comment I'd make is that it comes with separate "hooks" to hang the lantern from either the up or down position. Very easy to lose track of these things and it would have been way nicer if they were attached in some way to the Lantern. The "Siege" has pressure sensitive safety hooks on both ends of the Lantern and it is one of the best features. On a 1-10 scale I'd give this light a 9, The Streamlight an 11. If you are purchasing the LiteXpress to keep around the house for power outages etc. you can't go wrong. For $30-$40 for each of the 2 lights I mentioned you absolutely get your moneys worth. .............. .............. I had rated the LiteXpress a 9 out of 10 earlier. I definitely raise it to a 10. Yes, the separate hanging hooks can get lost, as I mentioned. However this is such a finely made, sturdy, stable Item that it just isn't enough of an issue to take away even a single point. At the moment there isn't a Lantern on the Market I'd prefer to own as a household emergency lighting source. Seems the seller is out of them. I can understand it. When I was researching it prior to purchase, they were the only seller of this Model LiteXpress in the entire USA. It is available throughout Western Europe (including desertcart UK). I believe the price was like $60 USD (plus intercontinental shipping charges). I sure got one hell of a deal on this thing at $29!
