Nordic Ware Hot Dog Steamer,Red, TRV213677

This is a useful hotdog steamer for anyone in a hurry to prepare a quick meal using a microwave. It will hold up to four standard sized hot dogs, franks, veggie dogs, and similarly sized food items; just add a teaspoon of water to each holder. The instructions indicate that hot dogs will steam quickly at full power in a microwave, but these direction apply only to those food items that are already thawed. Frozen items will require longer cooking times (maybe 60-90 seconds), but the particular food packaging should indicate the actual cooking time. Also, single items will cook quickly, while multiple items will require additional cooking time. I’ve also used this steamer to prepare veggie dogs, and the steamer works well for this food item. The first time cooking a new item requires some experimentation in order to get the cooking time “just right.” Since microwave ovens heat quickly, be mindful to cook no longer than recommended to prevent singed food and possibly melting the plastic steamer. This is a two-piece plastic steamer that easily separates for cleaning (see photo).

Works as advertised. It'll hold up to 4 links/dog. and is quicker steaming the links then bringing a pot to boil. For most links it is okay, but some are a little too thick to work well in it.

Cute little item! Clever idea I guess, interesting maybe. Used it last night. Works just fine, did it "steam" the dog? I guess. My only thought was why not have a clip or something to hold it closed? If steaming it, shouldn't it be closed up or sealed? I used a thick blue rubber band from a broccoli bunch to hold it closed. I used a Beck's beer. All was good.

Great product, extremely durable and cooks my hotdogs extremely well and tasty. Easy to store and clean and the hot dogs fit well in the container. Absolutely no complaints

The greatest invention since sliced bread. No fuss, no muss: one minute in the microwave oven and you are good-to-go. No fried hot dog oder in my apartment; as well. I enjoy cooking them and slicing them up and using them in my stew/soup. It folds open for easy cleaning. Enjoy...

Really like this microwave hotdog cooker. It cooks 4 hotdogs at a time, and they come out very juicy. It is easy to wash either in the sink or dishwasher. Like that the top separates from the bottom for putting on dishwasher top rack. Before I would microwave the hotdogs on a paper plate in the microwave turning at 1 minute cooking times. They were okay but not as juicy. Would advise using a thermometer to be sure fully cooked when first using the cooker. Microwaves do vary in their cooking times.

This works really well, not sure about the spikes, in my experience you want to keep all the juices in the sausage but that's only a minor niggle, you cannot find a hot dog microwave cooker in the uk, at least I have not been able to find one, this will only take a 6inch dog, a bit of a shame as a lot of the really good German dogs are around 9inches long, but this will do the fat Herta dogs just fine. Very pleased with this.

Alright for steaming pre-cooked kransky or hotdogs. Not really suitable for cooking raw sausages.

Works great, to small for Costco hotdogs.
