My New "Give Away" Book
I think everyone in ministry has a "Give Away" book that sits on the corner of their desk...or in the easiest accessible place on the bookshelf to do just that...give away to the casual person that walks in the door and wants to fall into a relationship with God. You know, those that have hit rock bottom...the ones that are no longer pretending...the ones that admit life is hard and doesn't make sense. Those are the people I look forward to meeting on a weekly basis and this is the ministry my heart beats for...it keeps me going and gives me hope. Yet, I want to give these people more than a Bible...I want to give them a small book that is straight talk that after they read through the first few pages they think, "Oh heck yea...I have to keep reading this..." Its a way I can stick with them, without actually being with them.Andy Stanley's "Since Nobody's Perfect, How Good Is Good Enough?" does what I stated above. I've read this before and as the book states, it takes the average reader 2 hours to read...but the topic is one that really, everyone has thought about. In essence, Andy spends most of his time not defending the initial title, but instead answers, "How do we know where death leads." In reality, doesn't this thought flicker in the souls on those lost. It does. I know. I've been there. The way Andy presents the Good News in this book is by guiding the reader like he is having a conversation with them. By the end of the book, you feel like you know Andy and a bit more about what it means to live life to its fullest. I really can't say more...its written by an amazing speaker that literally shines through these pages too.So, if you have that friend that doesn't like to read, but has the questions everyone is asking...I'd give them this book. If you are teaching a group of teens the foundations of faith, read a chapter a week and then discuss. If you are in ministry, buy a few of these books (available by the case on Amazon) pair it with an easy to read Bible and use it as your "Give Away" resource. Its the best I've found and I'm sticking with it to the end! Thanks Andy!It must be noted that I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.

Critical Content but Easy Read
This little book is a no nonsense approach to the main theme of the Bible. It is well written, easy to read, and logical in its approach to what a lot of people deem a sensitive subject. The author has a very personal touch and comes across as a real, sincere, and humble man delivering a powerful message of hope. His message is not his own, but one delivered by God. The message is simply that no one can be, or ever will be "good enough" to find favor with God. Despite that fact, the world is full of "religions" that operate under the mistaken notion that it is possible to be "good enough" by adhering to a prescribed list of do's and don'ts. The author logically discusses why concluding that it is possible to be "good enough" is utterly unfair, and makes no sense at all. He goes on to discuss God's caring, self sacrificing solution to the problem.Bottom line, this is the perfect little book for someone who needs a short, well written, common sense approach to a touchy subject. The author is straight forward, candid, and shares his thoughts with a sense of humor that is disarming. This is a must have booklet.

Good Enough To Answer The Question
This brief 94 page book is well written and makes its points clearly and logically. It's not meant to be a theological resource but believers will find the book very useful to share the Good News with unbelievers. The book's ideas help us who believe to more fully appreciate the struggles that a non-believer experiences in the search for God's forgiveness. Its primary point is that no human being is "good enough" to win God's forgiveness by personal efforts. No matter how sincere we are, no matter how much good we do for others, no matter how much time we spend in prayer and worship, we cannot even come close to God's righteousness. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ. The forgiveness we receive is a gift given; it cannot be earned. It's understandable that most unbelievers who are searching for God try to be "good enough" to earn God's acceptance. Since they, nor we, can be "good enough" on our own efforts, many give up their search for God.Andy Stanley makes it clear that anyone can become good enough to satisfy God standards through Jesus Christ if they are sincere in their acceptance of Christ as their atonement as the only way to become "good enough".A book that's nice to have around when a question arises about what someone needs to do to earn salvation.

Combating Moralistic Therapuetic Deism
In "Since nobody's perfect. . . How Good is Good Enough?" Andy Stanley combats a serious theological issue that pervades our society. In their book, "Soul Searching" Smith and Denton publish the results to a survey that sought to determine the religious practices and beliefs of teenagers. Their study resulted in a phrase called Moralistic Therapeutic Deism. This idea, adopted by the majority of teens in America and most likely taught in churches announces that God exists and in order to have a relationships with Him we must be good. Then we can have access to Him so that He might solve all our issues, including death. Andy Stanley, using clear Biblical examples, shows how this belief is false and none of us can be good enough to gain a place in heaven. So many religious groups seek to come up with patterns of life that will gaurentee a spot in heaven. True Christianity announcess that none of us are good enough and we all need to depend on the grace that comes through Jesus Christ for our salvation. As Stanley concludes this volume, he annonces that God is more than fair in providing us with Jesus. This is truth! This book should be shared within churches so that we can rediscover and live out the truth of God's grace in our lives. I recieved this book as part of the Blogging for Books Program with Multonomah Publishers.

Loved this book
Loved this book! So well written, making it such an easy read. Made you really come to terms with the fact that, if you're going to heaven, it's not because you're a good person! A must read!
