Excellent instruction and beautiful images
I also watch Steve Huston on YouTube and have learned a lot about face and figure drawing. Very kind and inclusive instructional approach - makes drawing approachable.

Steve Huston is the man
This guy truly knows his stuff. I like his way of teaching in video and in person, theres eloquence in his teachings and this book is no different. This book paired with an understanding of anatomy is best. If one has seen Steve Hustons videos or one on one workshops one can immediately see bis draftsmanship on this difficult journey of figure drawing. I had the pleasure of seeing a one day workshop of Steve's and one needs to understand he can't explain every detail of figure drawing he doesnt have time to explain everything you need to know. It's like having JK Rowling read the whole harry potter in one day. What Mr. Huston provides in this book is a starting point for many artists, which i wish I had when I started, and a different angle on figure drawing. I have two anatomy books to help with anatomy so suggest you do the same. If you bought this book is because you still need help, and I beleive gesture amd proportion is mostly everyones weakness well if you truly take the time to use this book you will get better, or atleast making ever mark count.

Very good good from a great master
I love Steve Huston approach to drawing the human body. He use simple analogy that are easy to remember. I have followed his classes on New Master Academy, and now part of his Patreon. However I do like having his book on the side as there are a lot of master study, and it's just convenient to have Steve's drawing and demonstration, aside from my notebook.Honestly from the other comments saying the book could have used some editting, I really do not feel this this alter at all the value of the content. To me this is a no-brainer, buy the book!

Great book for figure drawing basics and construction bu conceptx are poorly explained
This book teaches great construction for figures. It can teach you to draw figures from imagination and the diagrams are easy to follow. The words and explanations themselves however need more elaboration.I recieved more value from studying the drawings than I did reading reasing the book itself. If you have somewhat of a background and understanding in figure drawing prior to buying this book you'll get great value. For beginners, you'll still learn but personally when I recieved this book with little knowledge on figure drawing I was left confused by some of the explanations. However, other people's experience could be different from mine.

I have not been disappointed. What a delectable book
I have such a huge artist crush on Steve Huston that I was positively salivating when I heard he was putting together this book. I have not been disappointed. What a delectable book! There is something for everyone from beginner to old timer. Huston's work is masterful and he is a pretty good teacher, too. There are lots of art books out there, you'll be hard pressed to find one that is as readable as this one is.Read this book. Draw along with the chapters. In the end you will be a better artist. Simple as that. Money well spent.

What a remarkable book!
What a remarkable book! Steve Huston breaks down drawing the figure into an understandable and attainable skill for both the beginner and the professional. The methodology is clearly shown in his examples and the narrative is insightful. Teaching the ability to put "life" into figure drawing, this Master artist leads the reader through the fundamentals building a foundation on which the drawer is not just depicting a solid figure, but a figure with life and movement. A wonderful teacher and deep thinker, Huston reminds us of the need for studied practice while inspiring us to continue on the path to attaining the skills needed to speak the language of art. A true treasure in print.
