Review: What do we think of this game? "Cupid's butt-shaft." - My household is a fan of Cards Against Humanity. We have all the expansions. During one of our annual parties a friend recommended this to us which led us to picking up Bards Dispense Profanity. While I was initially concerned that a lot of the Shakespeare would be lost on some players, it was ultimately of minimal concern. I was tickled by some of the Blade Runner references and had a good laugh as some of the Marlowe pointed literature conspiracies. My husband is not a reader and he's certainly never been big on literary classics or history. He did enjoy this version of the game, though I know he enjoyed the CAH base more. We had forgotten the "black cards" to our CAH and ended up using the questions from this set as a stand in: which worked perfectly. Mixing and matching the sets for use can be LOADS of fun. For those who are curious: this game is not a seamless card set for CAH. They are made with a different card stock, do not have rounded edges and are not the came color: which means these can not blend in seamlessly with a CAH deck. My suggestion would be to either use JUST the questions and JUST the answer cards if you mixing games together for a new experience. This does not detract any stars for me as adding this to our game collection has extended the freshness of these games. When you play CAH enough, the shock and laugh factor wears off. This set renewed the game for us. This, I think, is even better suited for people who are into literature. It's fun to guess what the source is of some of the sayings (hint: if asses are talked about, there is a good chance it's Midsummer's Night Dream) and again BLADE RUNNER references! Pick this up, it's a fun game and added to our experience with CAH. This will now become a permanent game in our "Offensive Party Games" shelf.
Review: A GREAT GIFT IDEA, honestly. - THIS GAME IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO ENJOY, whether you know anything about Shakespeare or not -- it makes no difference. I had no idea how much wit, and how much "inappropriate" language, is in his plays. It's extremely easy to learn so you aren't wasting time reading instructions. In fact, the very-brief instructions say to just play until you get bored ;-) Nothing serious about this game! CAUTION: I would not recommend this as a family game for kids. Even if the phrases themselves are relatively innocuous, it's IMPOSSIBLE to resist combining answers that create hysterically-inappropriate responses. Perhaps if you pulled out some of the cards, it would be okay for kids. GREAT GIFT! Truly and no-brainer gift for any adult friend(s.) I bought three copies and have already given them all away, and my wife has done the same thing. Most games take so long to learn and set up, you're giving your friend an obligation...but this game is just simple, fun, and funny. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

## Features

- Bards Dispense Profanity is 100 mock-serious questions for our time and 375 answers copied word-for-word from the works of William Shakespeare. You be the judge of which answers are best.
- “The smutty Shakespeare game you need for your next smarty-pants party.” —Washington Post
- Answer cards come from all 38 of Shakespeare’s plays.
- Each answer card cites the play, act, and scene (in case your dad doubts that Shakespeare really has Hamlet allude to “the incestuous pleasure of his bed”).
- Just a touch of help with early modern English: unobtrustive glosses on about 10% of the cards define archaic words with non-intuitive meanings.
- For 4 or more players. Not for kids.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for the Shakespearean Lover
*by C***N on October 3, 2022*

This game is hilarious! I have done a lot of Shakespeare, and not gonna lie, there have been shows where we played Cards Against Humanity backstage. I love this version so much more! Shakespeare was a really funny dude. I think he would be honored to know that someone understood all of the dirty jokes he made in his plays and put them in a game. Oh goodness! It's not all dirty. There are other types of jokes in the game, but all based around his plays and sonnets.
