Just an incredible aid here! Really a "one thing does all things" kind of helper. I wish that I had bought two on the first purchase (I have two now...). I am now able to tack, adjust, etc. so many parts that I was having to clamp into place before. It is amazing how the use of leverage makes it so much easier to get things going. Plus, by their nature, they help provide even more "ground" (or, Earth, if you prefer) for your parts. I was tacking an oddly-shaped piece that I could not keep "touching" my weld table without messing up the angles (I should have posted a pic so that you could see...but too late). I could not get a ground to it because the ground was too heavy and also pulled the part out of alignment. I needed both hands, so there was no chance of holding the ground to the part. Yet, the grasshopper applied a light enough "touch" that it did not upset the angles. It also applied enough ground that the tacks looked just like normal. I was able to tack the part, and all it's funky angles, without moving anything...or the grasshopper...even once. Once it was tacked together, the part was easy as pie to finish out. But, without this grasshopper, I might still be trying to lay down the necessary tacks! I'm telling you though...get at least two...you will thank me!

4 stars because when mine arrived the spring clip had become detached from the nut that holds it to the tool. So the clip was all floppy. This would have been a bigger deal with another tool I think, but hey... It's a welding tool, so I just welded the clip to the nut. No big. Otherwise. Excellent, awesome, amazing tool. And to be fair, I'm certain stronghand could have and would have made it right, it's just hardly worth the trouble to exchange.

Very handy gadget. Wish I had discovered it years ago.

Works better than I thought using tig welder,order more for guys in shop they also like it don't have to worry about messing up welding gloves.

How many times have you tack welded some small pieces and ended up slightly off due to the awkward way you had to fit it up? Well its happens to me. I saw these and gave it a try. WOW it truly is a third hand and not sure how I did without it. For art/craft welding you often have smallish piece hard to fit up, hold in place to get tacked. The front clip and rear ground strap is well engineered and obviously invented by a welder. This solves many problems. I liked it so much I also ordered the regular grasshopper too (only $28) which has the V-magnet base. That one comes in very handy too. With both you know have 3 and a half hands for fit up.

The unit serves its purpose. However I made the mistake of not checking the dimensions when I ordered it. It is much smaller then it looks in the photos. And the clamp on the end is pretty flimsy. But it does work and it is quite handy. I just wish it was about twice as big and twice as heavy.

Worth every penny. heavy enough to hold, yet easy to position.

Da ich jahrelang ohne ausgekommen bin, scheint es nicht lebensnotwendig zu sein. Aber manchmal ist dann doch recht hilfreich, wenn man wieder zuwenige Hände hat.

Works great for small and odd shapes

Although the price seems a little high, it's an amazing helper in the shop. I use this frequently to position small pcs for tacks and setting things at odd angles.
