Great. Get lots of shampoo for a big house.
Things I know you want to know: // Worth it? Yes. I paid $129 but would have paid more knowing what I know. // Does it get deep? Yes. I used Oxy carpet cleaner, but man does it clean. // Noticeable difference? Yes! You'll notice that my carpet is much cleaner. But keep in mind that my carpet is gray and beige, so it hides dirt well. But the fact that it's so much brighter is undeniable proof that this machine does a great job. // Easy to learn? Yes. After a while, you'll get the hang of it and know when to release more shampoo on areas that need the extra treatment. But it's easy to use. // Easy to maneuver? Yes! It's light even with a full gallon of water. And it's just like a vacuum. It's surprisingly maneuverable and smooth. No kinks in the motion. Very smooth. // Long cord? Yes. My living room is huge (the furniture is still in the living room in the picture, not in another room), and I only had to plug it in another socket to get around the furniture. // How often to refill? This depends on how fast you are cleaning. Normally you want a slow, deliberate pace. I can go for 10-15 minutes before needing to dump the water. // *** When do I refill? *** You'll know when when it's time to refill when 1: You hear the suction sound change to just being a motor around 2: You'll stop seeing water being pulled in when you back up 3: The orange ball in the dirty water reservoir has risen to the hole. This is a sign that the dirty water is as high as it can go, and the cleaner will stop sucking in more dirty water. // Easy to pour and refill? Yes. You'll develop a quick change routine: pour dirty water; rinse sink while refill water is getting hot; refill and go. There is almost no way to over fill. The engineering has angled the reservoirs in a way that makes this extremely difficult. // Shampoo If you have a big house, I'd say get more than 64 oz of shampoo. There's nothing wrong with having leftovers. For a normal house, 64 should do all the rooms. // Sturdy? Very. I didn't have any mishaps but I stepped on the hose and it did not break. // Stairs? Attachments? I didn't do the stairs yet (hey, my house is big) but I tested the attachments and they are up to the task. The hand scrubber tool has lots of brushes and they rotate with power! I did my couch and it scrubbed out a stain I didn't think would come out. Anyway, I'm tired of writing. Just get it. If this doesn't tell you it's worth it, I don't know what will. I'd like to be with some ladies right now but instead I'm taking the time to write this review because I'm so impressed with it. If you don't like it, you can return it, and you're covered with 2 year warranty, I think. The game I'm watching on the TV just mentioned a Slurpee. Maaan I want one of those right now. You should get one after you get this because you can clean up any mess you make.

Solidly built, light-weight and cleans well for the price
I've used the Hoover PowerScrub Deluxe in two homes and I'm happy with it. It cleans carpets, upholstery and carpeted stairs, and if one pre-treats carpets with a stain remover, it leaves them adequately clean. Assembly is as simple as screwing on the handle. It's not heavy to move around and it doesn't take up a lot of space when not in use. That said, it takes getting used to. There are three tanks one has to watch constantly: for clean water, for cleaning solution and for dirty water. They empty out--or in the case of dirty water, fill up--at different times. Another thing to remember is to set the water tank to RINSE when rinsing the carpet (water only), and back to WASH (water and solution) when washing. The manual is very clear. I've consulted it many times and always found the information I needed.

Great vacuum easy to use and works well
I refrained for months over buying a carpet cleaner unable to commit. I rolled the dice and purchased the Hoover because it was affordable compared to the $200+ range, and was attracted to the easy assembling/disassembling of cleaning containers. My carpet was filthy (with 3 kids and a large dog, it’s just a losing battle) and didn’t have high hopes due to the carpet already being a darker whitish/gray color, but boy this thing did the job! Pros: It was easy to fill the solution and water container as well as empty the dirty water container. Of course the dirty containers are always a little tricker to clean, but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t manage easy. To add, clipping and buckling containers back in is super easy and obvious which is reassuring. Lastly, once it dries, it looked significantly cleaner after one round. I did go over the carpet in rinse mode after the wash mode and that helped. I don’t think it took a vast amount of time to dry, and goes fairly quickly with heater or fan on. Cons: It only came with a 6 ounce bag of solution which wasn’t enough to do more than one of my rooms, but the solution goes rather quickly, especially if they expect you to use their Hoover specific solution. It is a little bulky, but it does have quite a bit of jibe going on so it’s tolerable. But all in all I would recommend it.

Pros and cons of the hoover
The Hoover PowerScrub is a solid, user‑friendly carpet cleaner that delivers good value for its size. One of its biggest strengths is how lightweight it is — carrying it up and down stairs or moving it around the house doesn’t feel like a workout. The suction is surprisingly strong for a compact machine, and setup is quick and intuitive, even for someone using it for the first time. Cleaning the unit afterward is also simple, with parts that rinse out easily and attachments that make spot‑cleaning or upholstery work more convenient. That said, it does have limitations. The machine doesn’t pivot or rotate the way a standard vacuum does, so maneuvering around furniture or tight corners takes more effort. Because of that, it’s better suited for cleaning in sections rather than tackling a full room in one go — unless you’re prepared to spend an hour or more. It can also be hard to tell when it has fully extracted the water from the carpet, which may lead to extra passes just to be sure. Overall, the Hoover PowerScrub is a decent, straightforward machine. It’s about the same size as a regular vacuum, easy to use, and effective for routine maintenance or smaller cleaning jobs.

The internet reviews are right! This is a great machine!!
I moved into my place and had professional cleaner come in and shampoo my whole house before moving in. I have been in my new place less than a month. I have an older dog that has started to pee in the house. She only has 2 spots where she pees and sometimes she misses the pads I have on the floor. I bought this cleaner to touch up after she goes. I just used this shampooer and I cannot tell you how dirty the water was!! I'm shocked that I paid to have carpets shampooed because this machine cleaned 10x better than the professional. I'm so glad I have this. It's easy to maneuver (I'm 74) and sooo easy to clean when you have to dump the dirty water. The carpet is fairly dry after using; should be dry within a few hours. Water capacity was fine for what I did. I think if you were doing 1200 sq feet you might have to add water and solution a couple of times. Very good choice!!

Amazing carpet cleaner!
Ok, I normally don’t leave reviews, but man this needs one!!! I freaking love this thing! I had a different shampooer, and had done my carpets before, and it barely touched anything. Very frustrating, because I hate having dirty carpets. Along comes this beauty, and let me say, I am VERY impressed. It cleans so well, it removed most of the months old set in stains from various goops that my kids have spilled on the carpet, though it took a couple of passes! I tried using the hose for the attachments and couldn’t figure it out, but that could just be user error! If I figure it out I will update! The suction is great, I love the drying feature, and though it is a bit heavier than my other one, it also has more water capacity, which means less water refills! All in all, this thing is great and I will be recommending it to everyone I know! I think you can figure out which one is the before and which one is the after 😅

Sighs of contentment after years of creeping grunge
This is a fabulous deal. I was leery of reported "rusty metal" near gaskets that would fail, so I purchased an extended warranty. But as the instruction booklet advises, I left the tanks and filter, front spray cover and spinner brushes to dry overnight like I did the carpet (after hand-toweling dry tank gaskets/pin and rest of the body). I released the handle and left the Hoover outstretched to dry on the living room tile. In the morning, I used an old travel-sized Sticky Buddy (lint/hair remover, pictured) to remove the lint from the (dry) black tank filter - 95% came off after the first pass on each side. I also took a Philips trimmer comb (pictured) I'd never used, to gently (don’t break anything) lift/nudge the gray fuzz out of the soft (dry) spinner bristles (the fuzz has been “washed” after all); compare the 2 cleaned scrubber wheels at each end to the 3 uncombed ones in between. My naturally speckled 9-yr-old rental carpet looked like side-by-side moped tires dipped in axle grease had been making their way between the living room tile and the bathroom (top left), along the foot of the bed/dressers (from tile toward the right) and general gray grunge for the remaining carpet (center). It was depressing. All gone now, using only a fraction of the Hoover box’s enclosed cleaner solution, after 3 years of neglect (my ancient Pro Heat died, so I tried various by-hand methods). Because of the build-up in traffic areas, I did not follow directions re over-wetting the carpet: I did the advised wet/dry passes a couple times over the whole carpet; then I came back to the traffic areas and did more wet passes with only occasional dry, until each section started to really lighten (at most, a minute); then I backed off and dried, rinsed and dried again thoroughly. I left 3 small fans blowing on 3 sides of the bed all night, along with a small space heater on low heat for the largest area, and plopped the rinsed tanks and accessories into those streams of fan-blown air. All told, I spent about an hour shampooing/rinsing/sucking-dry the carpet around my bed and short hallway to the bathroom, and another hour rinsing/drying tanks/parts and doing silly things like combing spinner brushes. This Hoover is smaller, lighter and more maneuverable than my old Pro Heat (except for sneaking under furniture edges). Heavy/bulky upholstery tools are stored in a separate accessory bag, not on the machine, and all the gross stuff can be rinsed (or rolled/combed off) with ease. So I’m fine with having it next to my grandkids' basket of stuffed animals (it’s certainly cleaner than the bottom of my shoes that tracked carport oil/silt onto the carpet in the first place, lol). I will likely use the Hoover only once or twice a year for 100 sq ft of carpet, so taking time to clean/dry it for storage afterward is no big deal. It’s not a commercial-grade behemoth. You can’t fling it around like a mop, either: just slowly up and back, overlap, slowly up and back about one foot/sec – works GREAT. Sneaking the scrubber under furniture will press the Hoover’s upper tank against that furniture and pry it loose from its gasket so the Hoover stops sucking. But it has accessory tools to clean where its built-in brushes can't go. Also, note that the latch for the lower tank is shared with the spray shield below – since the latch is happy to flip either way, it takes a few tries to get the hang of how it should look/feel – there is no solid "thunk" as it latches successfully onto the lip of the tank. And yes, I wish the cord were about 3 ft longer. I can’t speak to its longevity yet, but I found this carpet cleaner to be thoughtfully engineered, the parts align/latch correctly, its tanks are easy to fill/empty. It’s clean, so I can keep it handy indoors for any kiddie spills that occur. There may be lemons out there, but the one I received completely refurbished the pitiful carpet I’ve been living with. Thank you, Hoover and Amazon Prime!

Company is oblivious to the issues with SpinScrub Brushes
Initial reaction when I had first received this Carpet cleaner, was pretty good. Opened the box, only thing I had to assemble was the handle and it was ready to go. Most of the 5-Star reviews have covered the good part of its functioning. I will highlight what they may not have experienced yet. The SpinScrub brushes makes the spinning action using a turbine mechanism. This turbine has cheap parts and it starts rusting as soon as it comes in touch with water, which could happen right after the first wash. This issue has been widely reported in Hoover's other models as well, and yet Hoover's clueless Engineering team is unable to change the design or the parts and keeps on using non-stainless steel and cheap parts which seize to operate, right after they come in contact with water and rust. Check the following link on Amazon Q&A where a user has asked a question after his or her machine stopped working: https://www.amazon.com/Brushes-not-spinning-something-internally/forum/Fx23UOVL4I8KXTK/Tx26GM4WHEYHZHV/1?asin=B00009R66F When I experienced this issue as I was getting ready to use the machine, I did an online search and numerous videos on how to fix the Hoover carpet cleaner's turbine mechanism. It's just been a year and have used the cleaner twice. I am very handy with fixing things. So, I thought, I will give it a try before calling Hoover for warranty claim. In my case though, it won't fix as the shaft between two bearings is completely rusted and jammed. The bearings are rusted too, tried using WD-40 and tried to move the part but it won't budge. I have now sent a message to Hoover Support, let's see how quickly they can have it fixed. I will come back and update the review accordingly. ----- Update as of May 4th ----- My machine was still under warranty. I had contacted the Hoover Support via email but they refused to send the affected part and instead referred to me to their authorized service center. I tried to reason with them that it's waste of time for me drive about 11 mi to take the machine for a problem which I have already diagnosed. They refused and reiterated to take it to authorized service center. I had eventually taken the machine last week to service center. The service center folks were very receptive and told me that this is a common problem but good for their business. Warranty or not, they get paid either way. Service Center had called me last Saturday that they had replaced the part under warranty. I just need to now pick it up. ----- Update as of May 6th ----- I picked up the machine today and it has a new turbine that rotates the SpinScrub brushes. This repair was done under warranty but I am concerned that warranty would soon expire. So, I asked the service tech about what options I have when (not if) it happens again. He told me that the part is about $30 and their service fee for changing the part is $20. So, I will be looking at $50 expense every time this part needs replacement as the company WILL NOT ship the part directly to consumer even if they could handle the repairs themselves. An additional fact to keep in mind before you pick this cleaner.

Wrong plug+No adapter= fire&broken machine
I was very excited to use my machine. It came with what looks like a USA plug and no adapter. I read the instructions, used my own adapter, measured and filled the machine, turned it on and instantly heard a bang, with the smell of burning and then machine turned off... I felt it was going to create an electrical fire, especially how there is water inside the machine and something has exploded in there. Not a nice experience.

Very impressive. This baby cleans.
At 81, is my first home carpet and upholstery cleaner and I’m very impressed. The unit is well constructed, brilliantly designed and very easy to put together. It appears that every aspect has been well thought out, even the accessories bag with the closet hanger handle. Very convenient. The instruction manual is meticulous and if you read and follow it carefully, you will be amazed at what this little machine can do. There are also videos available. I did find the photographs are a bit hard to decipher and I’m wondering if diagrams would be clearer. It comes with a USB type cord which is still a mystery at this point. The unit is fairly heavy which I like because it’s feels substantial but it’s pretty compact and rolls and stores away easily. It’s quite loud but no louder than professional cleaners or rental units. The tanks need to filled and emptied fairly frequently but it’s pretty small overall so that’s to be expected and I didn’t want a bigger machine to manage. I’ve now used it on regular carpeting, both wool and man made and l and have just finished cleaning our very soiled office chair and everything is coming out beautifully clean and fresh. I should mention the unit I bought was ‘open box’ so I saved a few dollars there. It arrived quickly in the original box and in new condition. I’m sorry to say my professional cleaner has just lost a client because I will be doing my own cleaning now, at considerable savings. I highly recommend the Hoover Power Scrub Carpet Washer.
