Henna Hair Color and Conditioner Persian Dark Brown Sable - 4 oz

I've been using this for years, but now my hair is much grayer as it grows out, the color isn't the same. WARNING>>>Henna sites will tell you to use indigo with henna for gray coverage and yes it does work. But if you try to grow it out, you will end up with a blue line of demarcation from the gray into the henna and it may take two years or more to grow out. So use this product alone, not with indigo. Lesson learned. And professional colorists may or may not be able to help with the transition. Good product if used alone - you just need to remember it's permanent, it layers inside the hair shaft, so make sure you are ready for the commitment.

This is the second time I've purchased this brand to henna my hair. It predictably works and I get consistent results. I order the dark brown version because I like to darken my hair going into fall where all summer long it's damaged and lightened by the sun. Mind you I where at hat all summer to protect it but it's not full proof. This product makes my hair healthy, thick and dark. Last time I mixed this with hot raspberry leaf tea bc I wanted to up the red tones a little and added 2 tbs plain Greek yogurt for extra moisture. Turned out great. Dark chocolate brown with red undertones that was beautiful in the sun. This time I mixed with strong coffee to amp up the dark tones. I again used 2 tbs plain Greek yogurt for moisture. This time, another dark chocolate color more even dark brown tones. Lots of shine and feels soft and thick. I trust this brand and this seller didn't disappoint. The powders needed to make dark brown (henna and indigo) are premixed so you mix enough powder to thoroughly coat your hair. It's probably more than you think as my hair isn't even that thick and it drinks this stuff up. I had to make 2 bowls and my hair is just below shoulder length. I left on 1 1/2 hours. It doesn't smell great but for people complaining, get over yourself. This is a chemical free dye made from plants, that you then mix with liquid. What did you think, it was going to have added fragrance? Anyways good product, make sure you have gloves, this does not come with any and your best bet is to hang out in the bathroom with all your supplies. I lay old newspaper down on the counter, floor, toliet etc. Have my plastic wrap and hair turban ready. You can get a cheap hair turban at the Dollar Store. It will get stained. Really important to section hair. Even if it's top and bottom sections that's better than trying to force the product through the hair to get underneath. Trust me. Get it all on, wrap in plastic then put on the turban. These stay better than a towel and hold heat better than a shower cap. Leave on til whenever depending on your hair. Rinse really really well. Shampoo and condition. Done.

Here's what will happen if you have a small amount of gray hair or more, and use this product… It will turn your hair dark reddish orange. I don't know about the other colors that Henna offers and how they perform, but the dark brown version should not be used at all, unless you're dressing up for Halloween and going as Bozo the clown, because that's what it will do to your hair… Sad to say it turned my graying temples and gray in front all dark reddish orangey brown. The only reason I bought this product was because it's all natural and chemical free, and I'm all about organics and purity when it comes to my health, but ironically I had to go and run out and try and cover up this horrible dye job with the chemically laden hair dye " Just for Men"...that's that wonderful product that comes with all kinds of warnings because of possibly all of the radioactive plutonium and isotopes it must contain.. and after re-doing the crappy Henna job with just for men...my hair still looked like carrot top...as well as my head felt like the monster from the alien movie just regurgitated on top of my head and his acid was melting my scalp...my freakin head was on fire...they really should rename that product to something like "Just for Dead Men", so they look good in the coffin… because that stuff is intolerable on any living creature. Well needless to say my hair is ruined for at least a month because oh Henna… and so I am rectifying the situation by shaving my head tomorrow… Luckily I'm a Buddhist so it's not a big deal, and I'll just let it grow back In (I'm Buddhist but I'm still not ego-less....yet lol)...and in the future I think I'll just let myself grey naturally. Again to reiterate I'm only commenting on the dark brown product because that's the one I've used… I don't know about their other products, but if this is any indication of what they could be like… You might want to just run from this company and never look back... and you probably want to run from "just for men" too, unless you don't mind glowing in the dark and having your head burst into flames like "Ghost Rider".
