Q: Would like to use this On my woodstove for air quality would this help?

I don't see why not. I use mine on my gas stove. It works fine. There is a fill line inside the kettle. Do not go above it. A very nice piece of work and it is well worth the money.

Q: Is the bottom completely flat?

It sits very flat. If you look underneath there is a small raised circle. Very slight, sits very flat and secure.

Q: Tonight was its first use, but it won't whistle and was basically boiling over. Is there a way to make it whistle? Or should i just exchange it

Hi Mindi. I have not had a problem with mine whistling. I'm wondering, since it was boiling over, perhaps there was too much water, and the water boiling out of the spout prevented it from whistling. I think I mighttry it with a smaller volume of water to see if the steam will rise to whistle. If not, I believe I would exchange it for a new one.

Q: Does the handle get hot?

I have been using mine regularly for the last couple of weeks and have had no hot handle problem.
