Worked Well for a Non-Standard Use Case
I used this to protect a 4x4 post...that was not a mailbox. It was an end post on the bottom of some deck stairs, almost exactly 4x4 square. The lawn guys were hard on that post because it meets the ground and there's little to no margin around it. I used some JB Weld wood epoxy to fill in and stabilize the very bottom of the post, and used 2 of the 4 brackets to wrap around the sides of the post that were exposed. It worked out very well. Self-tapping screws are included and the aluminum on the brackets is relatively thick, but pliable enough to still be tapped with no pre-drilling from the provided screws. Very adjustable, which was key in my case to compensate for some variation due to the epoxy filler. Accepted opaque deck paint well so it's now essentially invisible. I expect it will last a long time.

Easy To Install. Protects Mail Box Post Well.
This metal mail box post trim is exactly what I was looking for and that was discribed as on line. This metal post trim works well for protecting the bottom our mail box post from the weedwacker and lawnmower. It arrived on the promised date, was well packaged and was quick and very easy to install. I am very happy with my purchase. One suggestion to buyer. If you are planning on painting your mail box post, paint the post before installing the metal trim. Not that anyone but you would notice, but painting the post first would give your post a much neater, cleaner finished look.

Worth the price, fits rough sawn posts,, this is the best/simplest design out there
Fits rough sawn 4x4s thanks to a good design. This is, however, something that you can make yourself for just a few dollars if you have an hour or two of free time and a nonferrous metal blade on your sliding miter saw. No fault on the seller, still a quality product that is well thought out.

Protects the Post, adjustable size.
Works perfectly to protect our wooden mailbox post from the weed-whacker when trimming the grass. I like that it's adjustable since our post was a kind of strange size. Screws were included and went in easily.

I like my mailbox and was getting worried about some of ...
I like my mailbox and was getting worried about some of the previous damage to the post due to string trimmer. Besides, when I was using string trimmer, I had to be very careful. I was looking at this one and the other plastic post protector. I decided to go for this as it is metal and once screwed in, I was not going to worry about it anymore. Well, it does that and I like it. The hardware is perfect and the screws drills the hole on the plate that is under the overlapping plate. One of the things I was concerned about was how it will look against dark brown painted post, but it looks very good and slight industrial looks to it, not cheap or tacky.
