This stuff did the trick and worked very well!! Be careful, it's really purple lol and will stain whatever ever it touches! Easy to use with gloves, paper towel, and q-tips though! Came super quick and wrapped very well.

healing
I had an open wound for several weeks. Maybe it was a spider bite, or a flea bite, maybe it was some resistent infection. Tried neosporin, both ointment and cream; silver gel; tolnaftate cream; peroxide scrubs; alcohol; manuka honey; magnesium sulfate; rosemary--pretty much any antimicrobial that I had around the house that was recommended for nasty and unresponsive infections, and any antiinflammatory I could think of including cortisone cream, benedryl gel, salicylic acid, resveratrol, n-acetyl cysteine ("NAC"). Tried covering it, and leaving it open to the air. It just kept getting worse, and nothing could stop the flow of liquid or make it scab over. I had had success treating open ulcers in pets, using gentian violet, which I had obtained in an aerosol form at a horse supply store. After quickly curing a chronic infection in my pet's paw, I had used up the excess gentian violet by (deliberately!) dyeing my white bikini a lovely deep purple, so I had to get more for my own wound. I ordered this one and got it in two days. Within hours of applying, the open wound dried and the inflammed area started to shrink in size. I kept it covered just enough to prevent getting purple spots on everything. I used the gentian violet morning and evening for 3 days, then stopped treatment for 2 days so that a doctor would be able both see the wound and would be able to get a good culture of anything that might be living in there. By the time I was able to get a doctor's appointment, five days after starting gentian violet, the wound had completely scabbed over, so they told me I'd done a good job taking care of it and sent me packing without any additional treatment. Yes, it is messy if you aren't careful and if you don't cover it during treatment, but if nothing else works for an open wound, try this. Incidentally, the instructions say NOT to use it on an open wound because it might cause tattooing. However, I did use it on an open wound because, well, I was really tired of having an open wound and was very afraid that I was liable to spread some hideous disease to other people, and I decided that I would prefer a small round tattoo on my shin to getting my leg amputated due to chronic infection. In addition, when I had used it on my pet rat's open wound, his skin did not retain a tattoo but instead turned a healthy clear pink within days of stopping treatment; and that's what happened when I used it on my own skin. Just two data points, but when the worst a medication can do to you is possibly leave a mark, I figure it's worth it to stop an infection from spreading. UPDATE: A week after writing the above, one of my pets had surgery to drain an infection in his jaw, and was sent home with oral antibiotics. I asked her if I could also apply a topical antimicrobial, and listed what I have at home. She said Neosporin is ok, silver gel is great, but gentian violet is fantastic. However, she warned, we want to leave a small opening for any infected material to drain out; therefore, gentian violet should not be used for the first few days because it might cause the wound to HEAL TOO QUICKLY. She didn't offer an explanation of how that happens, just decades of experience with animals.

Works great
Works like a dream. My dad would put this on my mouth sores, that's how I knew of it. I had an ulcer on my cheek and it was very painful. Put a drop of this on before bed. It was gone within 24 hours

Use for anything... Stains aren't that bad ;)
Good price, shipped fast, would recommend to friends. You can use this product on basically anything esp. thrush just make sure you do 1 part gentian 1 part water. I know many people say it stains, funny story I had an open container in my kitchen cabinet when my mom came to visit she was putting groceries away and it fell she tried to stop it and it splattered EVERYWHERE. All over my hard word floor, white tile counter top, her hands, my golden retriever, and white cabinets. The stain on the wood floor came out easily using the swifter wet sheets (even when I found a few spots a few days later), used bar keeper friends on the counter top, clorox on the cabinets and came out easily! took about an hour but no purple left... except for my golden retriever, he's still got a few spots (

My Thrush is 90% Gone!
It seems to work! I was on my second course of nystatin for a thrush infection and getting no results- in fact the infection was getting worse. Tried this and within a couple of days it got so much better! I’ve had a sore tongue for weeks now and the soreness was 90% gone after two doses. Really amazing stuff. I’m trying it out on small cuts and the fungus that keeps returning to my baby toenail. My mother in law told me that this is what the doctors used to give out before they started using nystatin and all these other drugs that never seem to work for me. Note that it does stain.

Old Fashioned Antifungal
Who knows if 2% is any better/more effective than 1%. My Podiatrist didn't seem to care (he uses 1%). Old fashioned Antifungal - great on areas - where you don't care if it gets stained dark purple for weeks.

Incredible product BUT YOU NEEED TO BE OH SO CAREFUL!!!!
This is an amazingly effective OTC medical product. And the 2% is FASTER working than that 1% but that's the ONLY difference. I don't think I can find anyone more adoring the color PURPLE than me...HOWEVER this stuff REALLY STAINS and STICKS to staining for many many many weeks. SO BE OH SO CAREFUL. Wear gloves when applying. Have LOTS of fresh Qtip swabs, paper towels and when you want to discard the swabs, place them in a plastic ziploc like bag before throwing them in your trash!!! TRY to let it the area you have applied it to become completely DRY!!! before letting your skin come in contact with anything else. IF that's not possible, Wrap the area with paper towels first. IF you have to use it inside your mouth...before applying to your inside cheek, or gums....take the TEENIEST TINIEST amount of Vaseoline and swipe it over your teeth...if you DON"T you will have PURPLE teeth for a very very very long time. YOU will hate that to happen.
