Nice eGPU, but don't install the AORUS Engine software
This eGPU is solidly built and does the job. I'm able to play games like Cyberpunk at 1080p and 1440 with all the settings at max, Ray Tracing on etc.Although I'm happy with the hardware, I am NOT happy with the AORUS Engine software. Put simply, it didn't work for my setup (Intel NUC.) In fact, after a couple of days of use games started to crash then the monitor refused to display an image, even though the device was recognized by Thunderbolt. Then the fans ramped up to maximum and wouldn't slow down. After trying literally everything I could think of to fix the problem, including uninstalling all software and drivers, I discovered that the AORUS Engine software had not been removed and was "in use by another application". After manually deleting as much of the Gigabyte\Aorus Engine folder's contents as I could then rebooting, I was finally able to remove the Gigabyte folder and all of its contents. Then I was able to reboot, reinstall the NVidia drivers and everything went back to normal. Hopefully, this information will help someone else if they purchase this product.

There is a silver lining once you get under the hood
This will be a slightly "Modified review" for this particular eGPU.1st off, this thing is a waste! Waste of resources.Lightning 3 only transfers at 40Gbps.The RTX 3080 supports PCI-E 4.0 which transfers @ 16GT/s in each lane (128 Gbps) The link is full duplex, which means the data can be sent and received simultaneously à Total Bandwidth: 32GT/s (256Gbps).With those numbers that should tell you you are not going to get the full speed and capability of your RTX 3080 GPU. At this point you might be better off just buying a Laptop with a beefy RTX 2060 Super/RTX 2070 so on and so forth.Great News!!!! I picked one of these up for $600 new in the box. I took it apart and purchased a Gigabyte GPU I/O Plate online and I will now have a Full GPU for a Desktop PC. Total output for my Card, $622. That is a steal in todays market for a RTX 3080.Cons: I have to use a case that allows me to hang my graphics card vertically. I also have to build (3D Printing) a bracket to hold the water cooler.Note: For another $75-$100 I could easily just purchase a Fan Based Cooler but I wanted to keep the water cooling kit on this as it is very good.Overall I am happy with my purchase and I was able to reuse the eGPU case as a external Hard drive Box. I had an old PCI-4.0 Card that Houses 3 m.2 SSD's (3x 2TB). I found some Black Friday sales that allowed me to spend right at $360 for 6TB of external space for pics and games. It was truly a win win for me.If you find one of these case I encourage you to take the plunge and dig for the little parts and place this in a PC.Good luck!

Very powerful, compact unit and possibly the best on the market
I got this unit for my birthday and it's absolutely great. The water cooling comes in use and the size made it a perfect replacement for the noisy Vega unit I had in a Razer on my desk. Works with Microsoft Flight Simulator at 1440p on Ultra without an issue and comes with a nice accessory carry bag. The only major downside perhaps that can be updated is the USB ports do not seem to support my Oculus Rift S nor Quest.
