I didn't expect much in the way of quality writing though. I was pleasantly surprised. They write smoothly with a fine tip. I tend to write small and these are perfect for me. They are also very obviously mine so not easily stolen, lol. I did give a couple away to fellow ARMYs, so I need to purchase another set so I can have a Kookie and Shooky again :) I think the only thing that I would change about these is that some of the faces are a bit funny (I still like them though) and that if I'm going to be writing for a long period of time, they get a bit uncomfortable. They are the same thickness ad a standard pencil and I have the same problem with those as well. I could add a foam grip to help.
