Review: NIENTE DA DIRE OTTIMO OBIETTIVO
Review: there is absolutely no doubt about the fact this is amazing glass for your m43 camera - whatever you frame will look great. focus is instant on the OMD EM5. sharpness is amazing - perhaps to the point where it is even too much for portraits without any mild postprocessing - not everybody likes every pore, wrinkle and fair exposed like that :) the 1.8 aperture means it performs great in low lighting, and that you can get absolutely immense depth-of-field effect out of it, in fact close up at 1.8 it gets to the point where it becomes a compromise to decide which part of a face to get into exact focus (yes it should be the eyes, but then it's like "which one"?). let's also note the "bouquet" is beautiful for the out-of-focus elements in such compositions. construction is very solid. this is a heavy, all metal lens. should you for some reason want or need to focus manually (i've never had to with this lens), the focus-by-wire manual ring is smooth and allow for extremely accurate focus. absolutely amazing lens - but also be aware this is a specialized lens. the full frame equivalent 150mm makes it a semi-tele prime lens. the minimum focal distance is 2.8ft. that is a somewhat specialized in-between: sublime as a portrait lens if you have the distance (which will probably not be the case in confined indoor places). so this is a lens that always depends on you having the right distance to achieve the desired composition, and if you don't you are out of luck. and you will not be at the right distance more often than with other lenses. i love having this lens, but also want to point out i don't use it nearly as often as other lenses. as always, it depends on your shooting style. it's definitely a should-have lens for m43 enthusiasts, but i'd personally get it *after* getting the Panny 25 1.4, 100-300, 45 1.8 first. but that is just for my personal use. make no mistake: this lens is the stuff of legend, kind of like the original Oly 50:2.0 for 43. olympus' recent policy of selling lens hoods separately at ridiculous prices is bothersome. a lens this price should come with a fitting plastic hood, come on. *then* sell the high-end metal hood separately, Olympus (and good luck to you trying).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this lens work well with Olympus E-M10? A review said it doesn't balance well on small Micro Four Thirds cameras. Any suggestion for prime lens?**
A: It balances very well on an E-M5 with battery grip, not so on an E-PL5 but it's not too bad. The E-M10 is somewhere in between so the best thing would be to try it. That being said I've run around all day with a 150F2 on my OMD and it certainly does not balance well but the lens is amazing. So is this one - the 75mm is their sharpest lens. Once you see the images you will not regret it.

**Q: Hi anyone using this lens for video? I have a GH4 and just starting to shoot short films some short run & gun.**
A: Works great on GH4 for video.

**Q: I'm considering this lens and the Olympus E-M10. Would this be good for high school indoor and outdoor sports? I'm an amature, so will be learning as**
A: I love my 12-100mm Olympus with OIS. It combined with IBIS in my camera allow mr to hand hold and get shots like no othrt cameras i have owned. I am looking at a faster 45 or 75mm to obtain shallow depth of field.

**Q: Is this the best lens for night shots? we're taking an aurora trip to alaska and i want to know if this will work well in those conditions?**
A: That's a tough question to answer. This lens has a very low aperture so yes it is good at low light but much of the low light performance for outdoor shots will be more dictated by stability (aka a good tripod). That said, this is a great lens for indoor low light where the low aperture comes into play. I hope that helps
