Easy to regulate temperature
I use this wrapped around a 2.5 gallon jar to moderate the temperature of my Kombucha. Winters in FL are mild so my windows are open most of the time which means my house gets chilly at night and then warm in the day. I place pencils between the belt and the jar if I need slight warmth and remove them when I need full warmth. So far I've been able to manage anywhere from a few degrees to 10 degrees warmer.

Either way I'm very happy with these heat mats
Ok, so I've had these about a week and wrapped each of them around our 2 1/2 gallon glass Kombucha containers. I secured them with 2" wide velcro, wrapped around twice, making sure cord was exposed. They keep my Kombucha consistently between 79 and 82 degrees regardless of the room temperature. I wasn't sure these would work but maybe the velcro helps secure it against the jar for more heat? Either way I'm very happy with these heat mats. Our Kombucha was only staying at 72-74 degrees prior to getting these. Thank you!P.S. I took a photo with and without the canvas dual cover I made for the bottles. The cover doesn't effect the heat at all but keeps out the light when I'm working in my office.

Very good.
Not quite perfect but I have ordered a second one so that tells you that it's good enough. It is easy to understand and use. My issue is that used alone with one gallon bottle it quickly reached the high end of the brewing range and I took it off to be sure it didn't go over 85 degrees. Then I wrapped it around 2 bottles at a time (1 gallon each) and it worked perfectly. It doesn't fit around 2 bottles completely but it covers the front of both bottles with just enough extra to fit around the sides and hold in place with the band. I brew two bottles at a time anyway so this arrangement makes me very happy. If you are only going to brew one gallon, keep an eye on temperature and have a chopstick or something ready to stick under the band to pull it back a bit from the bottle.

Great for the fermenting of kombucha (1st & 2nd), kimchi, & the warming of baking liquids/ eggs
I have two of these. One lives constantly around my 1 gallon jar of Kombucha that I brew continuously. In the winter I use it full force and in the summer I place pencils around it between the warming strip and the jar to keep it around 84 degrees. The other I use for the second fermentation. It is stretched flat, in a drawer, and I place the bottles of Kombucha on top of it to ferment for three days. I also place my 2 qt jar of kimchi on it for 24 hours after I make it for its fermentation. This really kick-starts the process and it bubbles happily when I burp it after the 24 hours. And I just realized that I can use it to warm up ingredients that are supposed to be room temperature for baking. I had put all the ingredients in my bread machine, which has a metal pan (of course), and realized the liquids were all ice cold. I should have just placed the eggs and the measured out buttermilk on top of the warming strip and warmed it before I put them in the pan. But I ended up getting one of the rubber bands that came with the strip and wrapping it around the pan until everything warmed up (about an hour to get it good and warm). The bread was better and rose higher this time and I think it was because the ingredients were warmed.

but I'm glad I chose this one because I think the larger ...
My house is around 67F now that it's in the colder months. I wrap this around the gallon jar (using the rubberbands provided), and it brings the temperature up to 83F. I was looking at purchasing other heating mats that were 10"x 20", but I'm glad I chose this one because I think the larger ones would have heated the kombucha too much. There's no thermostat for it, so I was taking a chance leaving it on constantly, but I'm confident after taking temperature readings over extended periods of time that it's only going to raise the temperature around 15degrees. The seller also suggests using straws to create gaps between the heating pad and the mat to lower the temperature a bit, if you only want it around 10 degrees warmer.

It probably works great for growing little seedlings
The picture shows the heating strip wrapped around a jar, but it simple comes with a cheap rubber band to attach it! It probably works great for growing little seedlings, but I wish I would have done more research and purchased a better heater for making my kombucha. This is a really cheap little plastic thing and there is no temp control knob or anything. I am currently looking for one that is longer with a temperature control know and a way to keep it in place around my kombucha container that is a little more advanced than using a rubber band.

Great for keeping your booch warm!
Our house stays pretty cool most of the time, down in the low 60's or even cooler. Much cooler than the ideal temps for brewing kombucha and temps that low can even lead to mold. This heater works great to keep your brew at a good temperature. Just wrap it around your brew jar, plug it in, and leave it. You could probably also lay it flat and set more than one jar on it but it probably wouldn't heat them quite as well.

Perfect belt for keeping your kombucha at a healthy temperature!
Perfect for making Kombucha! With just a little adjustment, according to the ambient temperature of the room, I can keep my kombucha at the temperature that I desire for brewing. On warm days, unplug or just loosen it a little from one side of the jar. It has been so nice to see the brew not getting too hot or too cool :) Thanks!

Quality
Ok product. Was disappointed with the elastic in securing the heating mat in place...it doesn’t do a good job.Takes a long time to heat up. Not sure what the highest temperature it can bring my kombucha. I place it on each of my 1.5 gallon kombucha and the highest I’ve seen it go up by night time is between 26-28 degree Celsius. My room temperature is 19. I never leave it on over night because I’m afraid it would get hotter than that.
