These are very good blocks. We love that Pluto is included, and the sheer depth of information and thought that has gone into these are amazing. Like other reviewers, I'd love to see an expansion set with the Sun, Moon, and possibly the other dwarf planets (or meteors, asteroid belt, etc.). However, if you are getting this for a very young child, keep in mind that the edges are fairly sharp. We also have not found it to be as durable as mentioned. The child we got this for is VERY gentle with these blocks but after only a little use one is chipped and others are showing signs of wear on the paint. I think if we were playing with them daily there would be a lot more wear, and wish there was some varnish or protection of the planet drawings in particular. However to get a nice solid set of wooden blocks with extensive information (moons, position from the sun, symbol, appearance, etc.), the price was very fair. We will consider more Uncle Goose blocks for educational subjects but continue to use plain ones for any rougher everyday play.

My son has autism and planets are his thing. He also loves stacking blocks. These blocks combine both of his passions. He loves stacking them in order. He does not like however that Pluto is included yet none of the other dwarf planets are. He is an all or nothing kind of kid. He would be ok if it were just the 8 planets, or 8 planets and 5 dwarf planets, but only including 1 dwarf really throws this set off. Hopefully in the future Uncle Goose will create a bonus set of dwarf planets. The blocks are beautiful and durable.

These blocks are so beautiful and detailed! I love the solar system carving that shows each plants place in relation to the sun. My daughter was captivated by them. The blocks seem small in an adult hand, but in her little hands they are substantial.
