GDS18V-740N PROFACTOR 18V 1/2 In. Impact Wrench with Friction Ring (Bare Tool)

The Bosch PROFACTOR 740N high torque brushless cordless 1/2 inch impact wrench has plenty of power for any task you can throw at it. I contacted Bosch Tools directly and I purchased the recommended GSX18v12N14 starter kit that includes an 8a fast charger and an Core18v 8ah HP battery. Pairing these two items together makes for one great tool. After two weeks of ownership and some lite use, I can say this without hesitation, "This is the most powerful 1/2 inch impact wrench I've ever owned." I've used it 10x or more and the battery still indicates a full charge. This tool is a BEAST! To say the least, and I truly hope it will be an inheritance tool. The 740N build quality is second to none IMO, and I've worked as an industrial machinist, a turboprop/turboshaft propulsion tech and as an automotive tech during my college years. I have a lifetime of experience with impact tools, and I've owned several different brands. This Bosch 740N is the best 1/2 inch impact wrench I've ever owned. I even have an old corded electric impact wrench my father gave me in the late 80s. Pros: build quality, power, design, durability and ease of use Cons: It is a bit heavy w/an 8ah HP battery *** 6/23/2025: While changing the blades on my lawn mower, a 15/16" socket became stuck on the friction ring. I had to grind the socket to the point where I could press on the ring to remove the socket. I was unable to use my specific extension that keeps this from happening with a set of cheap sockets. I had a difficult time completing this task because of the weight of the tool, but my 60" zero turn mower cuts fast and well once again. *** *** Three Weeks Later: I contacted Bosch Tools for a warranty replacement friction ring. They honored the warranty, and a new friction ring arrived a few days later. For some reason, the original friction ring was very slightly bent. I mean a very slight bend that measured approximately 1/64 of an inch. When attempting to remove a socket, the tiny bent piece of the friction ring would wedge between the socket's relief cut and the chamfer on the 1/2" anvil making it impossible to remove a socket. The new friction ring has performed flawlessly, which prompted me to add a star for the quick warrantied replacement part.***

Love love love the torque. Seems to have as much or more than the red brands my work provides. Great quality and very well built.

Works. Heavy duty tool for freeing up any bolt or nut from anything. Easy to use. Not tested battery life yet.

Breaks them Loose and Slams them Down! This unit brings the hammer, easy to use and majorly effective. IT exceeds my expectations every day. I drive a Straight Truck, those lugs gotta be tight, this tool and the 8Ah battery can provide the Air-Tool like Torque value and the battery usage is super efficient. Great Value. I clearly Love this Tool.

Great power. Removes lug nuts with no effort.

This impact is great for the price. It has like 750ftlbs of reverse torque which is pretty good. Recently though, i got a milwaukee 3/8 impact that has 550, so I rarely use this. But when I need just that little bit of extra torque I break this out

This 1/2 inch impact wrench is " new " in originally packaging etc. That said it was made 2 full years ago, probably been sitting on some shelfs some where un-sold, hence the great price on Amazon. I purchased the 8 amp battery for it also, it is running perfectly, but I have not found anything handy that needs breaking loose, so that evaluation will have to wait. It is not a light weight tool, not giant like some of the 3/4 inch commercial grade guns I have used in the past, but pretty stout still. For my personal shop, vehicle etc. Have to see how the battery life is for it.

Very good item. Goes with the batteries I already have and rips off lugs like no big deal. Sturdy and surprisingly heavy duty. Great and cheap buy. Needed this years ago. Save your back.

It does indeed what is stated in the description. I haven't seen any bolt to resist this impact, and I am working on old tractors and machinery.
