RAGU Dash Cam (New Version)

I ordered four of these, and I am very pleased. After having been very dissatisfied with a couple of Cobra cameras that were more expensive, and NEVER delivered this kind of video quality. To boot, the last Cobra failed to do its job at the worst of times - someone ran a light, my wife hit another car, and the Cobra did not save the video record.So far, the video is very sharp, true to color, and records motion much better that any camera I've tried. In fact, I doubt that you will find any camera at any price that will record video any sharper at full HD (1920 X 1080).I have one little gripe so far. I find it a challenge to get into the menu once the camera is turned on - it just wants to start recording - doing what it was designed to do.after pressing the Menu button several times, and at the same time pressing the OK button, I finally got a couple of the cameras to go into the menus so that I can set things up (the frequency and video modes, for example). I will probably turn off the closure alarm also because it sets off too easily, for instance, when my windshield wipers are in the intermittent mode, I get the little siren alarm intermittently.It doesn't seem fair that I wrote more about the gripe than I did the value of the camera. This is a great product for the price. I can just see this under the Christmas trees of the adults in my family.

Update - lasts about 9 mos to a year. That's probably why they don't make or sell these POS. I cannot get the company to call me or write me back Don't Buy It if it ever comes back on the market.Terrific Value for the Dollar! We have four of them, that's how pleased we are with this dashcam. First one is almost a year old and absolutely no problems. Its been in a car parked outside in 20degree to 95 degree weather and works great. Good color, clarity and resolution. Yeah, its a bit dark at night but you can still use it to prove your innocence in an accident. With a two year warrantee it is a great dashcam. Buy it!

Hits: It performs reasonably well for the price. Not really great, but not horrible.Misses: Poor documentation. The button on the side of the screen rattles and I had to put tape over it so it would not record the rattling sound. Appears to not be firmware updateable. The mount connection isn't that good. The battery may become discharged after a few days of non-use, so it loses the date and time.

Update: The company offered to send me a new one free of charge. I was leary but accepted. I've had it for a week now and is working perfectly. Recordings set at 3 minute intervals have been just fine and easy to view on my comp. The suction cup makes it easy to adhere to the my windshield. In all I'm impressed with how they were eager to fix my problem with out even being prompted by me. Very much worth getting one.

Love this camera! So easy to use and set up. Great quality picture in HD, no problems what so ever. Have only been using it for a week now, but I love it! Buy it, you wont regret it, especially if your looking for a budget camera and do not want to fork out hundreds of dollars for a dash cam.

Very simple to use worth the money. The display is very clear. The only flaw I found is that the buttons (plastic) RATTLE with the car's vibration and you can tottaly hear during the recording. That might be something you should take in consideration in case you need to use the voice sound caught on camera. The rattle will interfire.

Great dash cam. Picture and audio quality are superb for the price. Haven't had any serious issues with it yet.Only thing I ran into was getting the mount for the cam to fit into the suction mount. For some reason it is too small of an opening, but I partially made it work and it hasn't slipped out yet. This does make its removal fairly difficult though.

Purchased three Ragu Dash Cams to replace the Qsee dash cams that crapped out after 6 weeks. The good news is: they come with a 3 year free warranty, compact, good quality recording/playback, good suction cup attachment device, lightweight, long enough power cord, includes cord to hook up to computer, comes with 16 gig card, good to fair nighttime recording, good price.The not so good and why it loses a star, the instruction manual not the easiest to understand. The menu buttons are on the bottom and difficult to see unless you crane your neck to see them. (I used a thin silver Sharpie to write the buttons function on the bottom of the screen). Some will complain the camera is a dark chrome color instead of black but this doesn't matter to me.Overall a good buy and would recommend it. BTW this was NOT given to me as a promotion item and was bought with my own hard earned money. (But am curious how others get their stuff for free.....?).
