Pre de Provence Private Collection, Hand Cream, Tobacco Flower & Vanilla, 2.3 Oz

I was so excited to have two of my favorite scents combined, cardamom and sandalwood. The packaging was delightful and the lotion was in a perfect size tube to keep by my desk, in a bedside drawer, or in a purse. I was in love… it was the kind of package that walks into a room and freezes all but the imagination. I’m confident that I will open the cap and find my body lifted, carried by the aroma through the cardamom woods. I was ready.What really happened…I opened the cap and breathed in gently, as if I were a lotion aficionado. I wasn’t sure about the smell, it was dull. So, I did the logical thing and squeezed a bit onto my palm and rubbed my hands together. I gave the aroma another official inhalation. To my profound sadness, I detected no hidden spice. It smelled like old lotion; the kind that has long since lost its flavor.

Was hoping this would be nicely moisturizing with a lovely natural scent… but it fails for me on both counts 😐. The moisture level isn’t great… not nearly as good as the Weleda pomegranate hand cream I’ve been using (but trying to replace as it’s such a small amount and I’m not in love with the scent).And the scent on this Provence cream is SO strong and so chemical based that it gave me an instant headache. The smell itself would have been lovely if it wasn’t so strong and synthetic. To be fair I have a very sensitive nose and sensitivity to chemicals but still, they shouldn’t be using such strong fumes in a hand cream 👎🏼

Not even a hint of mint in this! The cream smells like camphor oil, very unpleasant. It does moisturize but the smell is so mechanical that I hesitate to use it. The packaging is very pretty but I didn't buy it for the packaging. No, no, no, not ordering this again!

I love this company they make the best soaps and lotions. They always smell so good too. This one is one of my favorites it's sweet and spicy. My boyfriend loved the smell so much I had to get him some too and he's usually not one for skin products at all. It's a great gift I've given some to both my brothers and another scent to my mother and they've given rave reviews! Pre de provence is so moisturizing and I love the way my skin feels and smells. I will definitely be getting more of this!

This is actually my second time buying this hand cream - I lost the first tube and was making do with a different brand, but I caved in and bought this one again because I missed this experience so much! I have the Cardamom and Absinthe, which smells a lot like a fancier, spice-y version of sweet fruit gum to me (and I love it). I was considering getting the Rhubarb instead to change things up, but that one had a scent that was super faint or overpoweringly sweet, which wasn't really for me.In any case, the scent is only half the reason I got this. The cream is a lot more buttery than watery, and unlike my other hand cream actually makes my hand feel moisturized, smooth, and NOT sticky for a good while. It feels a little like I have a very thin layer of protective wax on my hands (it's a lot better than I'm making it sound). The tube itself is a lot bigger than that of other run-of-the-mill hand creams. Considering that I don't need a lot of the stuff to coat my hands, that's a good deal - and the package is cute to boot. Give this a chance if you're looking for something to pamper your hands with!
