IT WORKS!!
We have an older cat that came to us as a stray about 8 years ago. He 'lives' outside (with adequate shelter) but we bring him indoors for his feedings (because he's diabetic and needs insulin). For whatever reason, during this winter, he acquired a urine smell; I'm thinking it's due to another stray that's been hanging around and spraying EVERYTHING. We tried using pet wet wipes and waterless shampoo's but nothing was working. They wouldn't even mask the urine odor upon use. We finally decided that he NEEDED a REAL bath...although we were nervous about how it would go since we've never given him a real bath before, and assumed that since he was a stray, he probably NEVER had a bath. His vet prescribed him a sedative to help calm both him, as well as us, so he could get the bath he so desperately needed. I shopped around on Amazon and came across this shampoo and after reading the positive reviews (and the fair price point), THIS WAS THE ONE. I ordered it Thursday morning with a delivery date of Saturday (today)...but to my surprise, it was in the mail on Friday evening (bonus points for that!!) We decided that TODAY was the day! He was getting his bath! We slipped him the sedative in a pill pocket treat and waited a good 45 minutes for it to kick in. He wasn't 'out of it' but he looked mellow enough. He carried him into the bathroom and I placed him into the tub already filled with luke warm water. I wetted his fur (using a Solo red cup..as the noise from the faucet would have spooked him) and lathered him up with the shampoo making sure to really get it into the fur and soaked down to the skin. The directions suggest you let the shampoo sit for roughly five minutes but he wasn't having that, as he started to squirm around after about three minutes; so I rinsed him off; again, using a cup - drained the tub and towel dried him off. We let him stay inside on the couch to dry off more and relax for about an hour...and to test to make sure the smell wasn't just 'masked' by the shampoo. YESS!!! He smells NORMAL again lol. Now, eight hours later and he still smells good and his coat already looks shinier AND feels smooth. So, in conclusion, IT WORKS AND I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND :)

Good, soothing shampoo for my itchy pup
My dog (a poodle) has been having bad skin allergies this year for the first time, and he's gotten several hot spots and overall seems very itchy and uncomfortable. We finally found an allergy medication that has helped, but while we were still figuring that out, I got him this shampoo. Our vet recommended bathing him once a week to remove allergens from his fur, but I was worried that regular shampoo would be too drying and might exacerbate the problem. I've been giving him a bath once a week with this shampoo, and I think it has definitely contributed to soothing his dry, itchy skin. In any case, it makes his fur very soft and fluffy, and the scent is very subtle (no weird medicinal scent that some anti-itch shampoos have). And my hands feel soft and hydrated after bathing him, so I assume it's doing the same to his skin :)

Great Find!
This shampoo has really helped our senior German Shepherd - he has a chronic skin condition due to an impaired immunity system. It has a nice clean fragrance and it really calmed down his irritated skin - while it wasn't a cure - it certainly is a GREAT product.

Great for allergies and skin issues
If there is a skin issue, my Doberman has it! He has a thyroid condition that effects his skin and coat. His skin gets covered in white flakes and it can really be gross! When I bathe him, the flakes disappear for a while, but then he gets these little red bumps all over him. I’ve tried a bunch of shampoos. Some of them irritate his eyes and make him even more uncomfortable, so bath time is a total nightmare. I also tried some skin medications and skin-conditioning sprays that the vet gave me, but they were very expensive and didn’t even work very well, so I went back to doing some experimenting on my own. I was elated to find this Oatmeal Shampoo. My dobie didn’t tear up or get any kind of eye irritation during his bath. I gave him his bath about 4 days ago and usually by this time, there would certainly be a lot of flakes reappearing. His skin really looks great! His skin feels clean and smooth now. His fur is sleek and soft now. The honey bath really seems to coat his skin with a silky layer of protection. I am sold on this brand and I highly recommend it.

Maybe it will work better for you.
Based off of the amazing reviews I was expecting more results. It is a good shampoo but my dog still has dandruff and the smell only lasts for about a day for him.

Your oatmeal shampoo cured our pet’s snowy dandruff problem
Our Chesapeake Bay retriever has very dry skin that often results in white flaky dandruff. We added some fish oil to his diet and changed his food but the skin flakes continued to appear on his coat. We could not find any products on the market that specifically were made for this type of problem and were getting very frustrated as to how to resolve the issue and help our dog. We spent money on different types of shampoo for pets but with no results. My husband went to the library and asked the librarian to help us research products on the Internet because we live in a remote area where reception was limited. The librarian got online and found information about oatmeal shampoo products that are highly recommended for pets that suffer from dry skin problems. After some further research she learned that oatmeal shampoo can help with dandruff type symptoms and suggested that we order some. Believe it or not, while my husband was at the library, he placed an order for Particular Paws oatmeal shampoo and we got it a few days later. I am happy to say that the white flakes are almost gone and our beloved Chesapeake Bay retriever is finally on the mend! Thank you.

My little girl is so soft and happy!
2/28/17 Update: I can't get over how nice and fluffy soft my older dog is with this shampoo. She gets stinky and with this shampoo she's just lovably soft. She definitely stays softer longer than she did with other shampoos. I thought my dog just had dry, rough hair but with this it's markedly better. My only problem with this is the super cheapo plastic lid which a big chip came off of after dropping it during a bath -- it tipped over during a wash after that and a bunch of shampoo spilled out before I'd noticed, making a big mess and wasting a bunch of shampoo. --------------------------------------------------------------------- I've washed my spaniel/terrier twice with this. So far I like it better than the medicated shampoo I had been using on her called Relief, which still left her itching. I like that the ingredients are natural and seem like they would be soothing, this just makes more sense to me. It leaves her fur nice and soft.

your product stopped my cat’s intense itching and scratching
My senior cat that is about 12 years old started having problems with dry skin during the winter months. We thought it was because the heat was on and that maybe it was drying her skin out and causing the intense itching and scratching. Once spring arrived, the skin condition only got worse even though we had turned the heat off. We added some fish oil supplement to her meals on the suggestion of a friend and it did help a little but she was still itchy and scratching all the time. I thought that maybe oatmeal shampoo might work as I regularly use lotion that has oatmeal in it as it is recommended for dry skin. I checked out products for pets online and it took me some time to track down and finally find the Particular Paws brand of oatmeal shampoo. I like the all natural ingredients and after giving my cat a few baths with the product, her skin condition has gotten much better and is clearing up.
