So I'm sure they send you fresh packed sand. I completely recommend it. **Q: what is special grade?** A: The title is confusing on this item as "Special Grade Reef" and "Fiji Pink" are two totally different types of sand. The bacteria in this acts as a filter **Q: Can it be used for fresh water** A: You can use this for freshwater but it will kill the bacteria, but the sand would be fine to use. the one drawback though is it is aragonite sand, so a lower ph it could dissolve some and add too much calcium in your water.
