I don’t think it’s true stainless steel. The bowls left black residue on my hands when o grabbed them. I threw away the food from bowls fear it was poisoned fromLeaching metals or residue.

There was a fair amount of mechanical polish left on the surfaces, especially under the rims. If you notice black residue on your hands, you are not alone. Be sure to wash with soap and warm water before using. Overall, decent quality for the low price. Lightweight and easy to stack, though the nesting is not perfect. The 3qt bowl has some imperfections that make it sit at an angle instead of nesting in the 4qt bowl. But for the price, I’m not too picky

These are beautiful bowls. They stack nicely and do not stack higher than the largest bowl which is about 4 1/2". They have maintained their shine after a couple of weeks of daily use.I read the reviews about the black on the fingers and hands after handling them. Upon taking them out of the wrappers, I rubbed my fingers under the lip and did indeed get black on them. So prior to using them for the first time, I took an old toothbrush and Bar Keepers Friend (I suppose you can use Comet or Ajax), and scrubbed under the lip. If you do this, be certain not to scrub on the bowl itself as it will leave marks!After the scrub and rinse job on each bowl, there was no more black coming off on my fingers. Yeah!!I Love these bowls and they are great to use! Glad I made the purchase despite the "black" reviews!!

At this price, it's hard to pass these up. The only reason I rated 4 stars was the larger bowl had a good dent on the bottom that came out easily, probably from packaging or from the shipping. Just make sure to give them a good hand wash prior to using them. It does have some residual polish or dust under the rims (it's easy to clean). These work great for mixing pretty much anything. I've used it to make Pizza dough, whipping eggs, marinating and storing meat in the fridge for thawing. You won't be disappointed.

I love these bowls for most things. Unfortunately, I used the largest bowl to brine my watermelon pickles and it did affect the finish by creating dull gray spots. I won't do that again! I have been using wire whisks and they have scratched the surface also, but not the integrity of the bowls. All in all, I heartily recommend them!
