Chapters 13-15 are so Good! And the epilogue conclusion. If you do not have time read those at least. Then work your way forward to chap 1. It will make for a better read!

Eye opener, heart driven, soul filling
I’m not Christian, and I’m don’t follow or read the Bible. Still, what I learned from how Andy Stanley provides stories from his life in ministry and illustrated with Bible verses was provoking of deep transformation to how I can be a better leader and mentor. This book is a must to anyone who recognizes the responsibility that comes with the gift of being in a leadership position.

Stanley is genius
I love this book! I love Stanley! This is sound theology, which is important to a Theology student. It was required but I see it as a blessing as a tangible book is the best and he is one of my favorite authors. I really love the short, basically annotated outlines at the end of each section. They make it super easy to find what you are looking for after you've read it and want to refer back. His ideas on leadership are wonderful and has made me a better leader. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone because we all lead in some way :)

The book was delivered used
Received the book complete with pre-highlighted areas and a torn restaurant paper as a bookmark. Would have been nice to receive a new book or a discount at the very least. The book itself was okay if you practice christianity. There are many biblical references that do not represent my belief system. However, there is worthwhile lessons nevertheless.

Powerful Read
Andy Stanley has done it again. The book is typical of Andy, captivating, inspiring, motivating and of course, educative. I plan to reread it again soon. I highly recommend it to every leader worth their salt.

Clear, concise and principle driven
There really are only so many truths out there, and they really are never far away from us. As Dueteronomy says, truth is already in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it (30:14). Stanley's strength is his stubborn refusal to over-complicate truth, which would only aid in my avoidance of applying it. "Gee, as soon I understand this, I'll start doing it."...Well, it's pretty hard to misconstrue "Get a leadership coach" , and after listening a few times, it's getting harder to ignore such a simple but hugely beneficial choice. The beauty of listening to or reading Mr. Stanley's works is twofold: the clarity is never lacking, and he communicates some other principles in his illustrations that feels like getting a getting a bonus learning principle. Somewhere along the way of learning about the 5 essentials to make me a better leader, I also learned some other life principles that would work in all areas of my life, if I am willing to apply them.I will also add that I enjoyed the audio format. Though I usully read and make notes in the margain when undertaking books like this. Having it in audio allowed for easy repeated listenings, and I could listen on the way the work, which has been of great benefit for application. Turn off CD, get out of car and apply immediately.

Good principles, easy read
Up front, I'll say this: the target audience of this book are those who are emerging leaders. While the thoughts Andy Stanley brings are useful reminders (or lessons) for those who are already in leadership and have been for a long time, the point is that those who are just starting in leadership or who see it in their future start as they mean to lead long term. It's mostly about preparation. Next Generation Leader is a solid read for a mentoring relationship between a seasoned leader and someone they are mentoring. Each section (there are 5) revolves around a single trait that a leader needs to cultivate, and each section has three chapters that bring the topic to light: generally an intro chapter where the trait is explained and described, then a Bible study chapter on that trait, and then a "bringing it all together" chapter, discussing possible pitfalls and application points. Discussion or reflection questions are given at the end of each section, as well as summary bullet points for the section as a whole. Useful and accessible, I recommend it.

great stuff
I have listened to this in the car several times now and its great material to think and chew over. There are some top tips for improving as a leader, suggested ways of thinking about different things that help to see my role in a different light. It's also very listenable and grounded in real stories.

Great for Organisational Leadership
Excellent, clear, easy to read book. Andy Stanley summarises leadership into 5 simple elements, and explains them all in detail, using pertinent examples (both biblical and otherwise) to support them.I gave the book 4 stars instead of 5 because my primary leadership environment is a youth group, however Next Generation Leader is more suited to someone in a pastoral, business, political, or even in a parental leadership role, not a youth group leader. That said, I still found it highly beneficial. Overall it is worth a read for anyone in leadership. Definitely recommended.
