No, from what I understand the Black Series are not 4K drives. This is from Western the Digital website:"What models utilize Advanced Format technology?Some models of the WD Caviar Green and WD Scorpio Blue product families are built using Advanced Format technology. Over time more models and capacities will be added. Does this purchase  come with free download of  WD Acronics true image ?

I do not know if Amazon has a deal that packages Acronis with the WD Black 500GB drive but this is not normally included.

Question 3

Does this still have the 5-year warranty? And since the warranty is based on the manufacture date, do you happen to know the date of this drive?

Accepted Answer

I bought this drive in 2017 and it began to fail 2019.  Still under WD warranty, however, they would not honor the warranty because it was an OEM drive not a boxed retail drive.  Even though it is within WD's warranty period, Amazon will not honor it.

Do you foresee any problems installing 2 WD 500Gb in a Dell 660, Win 8 desktop. 1 for storage/backup.

No! (problems). First things first. I am not brand loyal about PC brands. I build all of my PC, CPU hand installed onto Motherboard, Windows installed on new WD HD etc. Video Cards, the works. Now I do favor WD-HD's because I once dropped one (up-side down) onto a hard floor from the table), and it still worked for years. I have always used (2) WD-HD's. I keep all of my files & drawings on my D-drive in case the Win- C-drive crash. You can still use your (old) D-drive even with a newly installed C-drive. So go ahead, Windows 7 can do it for sure, & so should Win-8.1
