A good deal
I spent a good amount of time searching on here for a machine that I thought would be suitable for treatment for a knee replacement, and I settled on this one. If you're in the same boat, I can confidently say you're in the right spot. The machine is easy to use with clear instructions for set up. Just put the water in, add your ice (or small frozen water bottles), plug it into the outlet and you're good to go.The only issue I can think of is that it can be a little finicky to get the pad around the knee, but once you get the hang of it, it's good. I bought this for a family member, and they said this machine was colder and nicer than the one in the hospital! And one more thing -- use small/mini water bottles if you're going that route. Bigger ones won't fit.

Affordable way to continuously keep an area cold
For the price this is a really good deal. I first learned about machines like this about 7 years ago when I came home with a rental unit. It was amazing but Obfound our itbcost thousands. This one is simply a cooler with ice and water that circulates day he water, but it is affordable. I can hear the motor but it’s passable. If you are taking meds perhaps it will be less noticeable. It is not as cold as the water could be (like in a fancy machine), but the ice lasts me about five hours cold enough and a few more less cold. The knee pad works fine. I still need to ice to get really cold therapy, and this machine does not replace that. However, I pretty much use it when I am not icing and my recovery is going really well. Five days of continued use and working fine.

This product sucks. A huge waste of money.
Well, when you get it and unpack it, you would estimate this as a quality product. And then you use it and it works pretty well. No real complaints through 1 knee surgery. But then you put the device in a closet where it is protected from the elements until your next knee surgery. And you pull it out and plug it in and it's just dead. You test the adapter and confirm that it's working as it should-outputting a steady 12V DC.That's when you realize the product is crap.Thinking a manufacturer wouldn't turn out a product that can't last past 100 or so working hours, you call the manufacturer. And they tell you 'sorry, we don't sell parts'. And they say something so puzzling: "...this is for a second surgery? Well that's probably the problem-these aren't meant for 2 surgeries", and you shake your head and hang up the phone realizing that big companies don't care that you invested north of $100 on a device to make your quality of life a little better for a week or two of your life after you have a bodypart replaced.Don't buy this if you aren't intending on throwing it in the garbage when you're done.UPDATE: The manufacturer refused to stand behind their product, and won't sell the parts necessary to repair it. I disassembled it and the pump motor had become jammed (probably poor lubrication leading to oxidation while stored). Un-jamming it allowed it to work again, but I found that some of the low-quality parts used to assemble this product had somehow weathered and cracked.Folks, this product is pure trash. 18 months and a week or two of use in that time and it's just pure junk.

Best method to cool or ice a knee.
Purchased this after having major knee replacement surgery. The insurance paid for a commercial cooling device but their minimum charge was higher than this item. I used the commercial device religiously and it made a big difference. It is so much easier than using ice packs or frozen peas. The device is light weight and seems to be made well. I use it daily. The knee pad works great. I have learned to not pull it so tight that there is no circulation of the water and it cools instantly. I plan to use this for other aches and pains. The value is that it has complete coverage of the area you want to attend to and all you do is put it on and start it. I only have the knee pad and believe it will work on other parts but I can order the other pads. I am hoping it continues to be so durable and will be curious to see how long it lasts. I use it every day and have not been disappointed.

Great machine.
Love this little machine. I had a partial knee replacement in July and needless to say ice has become my best friend. I own and still use a different brand machine which is made with a Rubbermaid cooler. With my youngest son playing travel basketball 9 months out of a year as well as football 6 months out of the year I figured it would come in handy having a secondary unit in the house.I will say the ice lasts about 6/7 hours and stays good and cold. I use a sleeve to protect my skin and an ace bandage to strap the pad to my knee. I definitely recommend getting an ace bandage of some sort with Velcro. The straps that come with this machine just didn't cut it.I will say that I do wish the insulation was better and held the ice better. As I mentioned I have another machine which is a small cooler version which keeps the water cold for close to 24 hours and the ice for a good 12 hours. It seals really well and i don't have to worry about it leaking once the rope is engaged properly where as my other unit can leak if it gets bumped as it does not seal. But then again it's a good 15 years old.The top can be challenging to close if you do not use the correct ice to water ratio so I do recommend filling it in the sink of you have one that can accommodate. Again this is compact. The other unit I have opens and closes like a standard personal cooler which means easy filling and easy closing however it doesn't seal.Overall great product and yes I recommend it. Also after using it for the last couple months I would definitely purchase it again.
