Q: How temperature sensitive is this? i want to make something like a "jem studio light" around some 300w sodium vapor bulbs about 75cm radius.

Caution. It would scorch. Even the slightest would adjust color temperature unevenly.

Q: Will the heat from a standard bulb (not led) melt nylon?

You can't allow actual contact with bulb, or any other light source, but I've used it with lamp with 4 bulbs and had no trouble.
