I've used other fisheye "body cap" or "pancake" lenses such as this and the Pergear performed as expected optically. Unfortunately the mount latching mechanism was defective and while I could mount it on my camera it would not lock in place.The replacement, while it locked onto the mount just fine, was optically very poor with one side of the image very soft in comparison to other and far worse overall than the first copy. Clearly some sort of optical misalignment during the assembly of the lens. Worse still there was lubrication oil leaking or weeping onto both the front and the rear of the lens body.Both lenses did not have remotely accurate infinity stops either. If you were to just slide the lever to infinity and shoot a distant scene you would get a soft image. Infinity focus was actually about half way to the mid-range of the focus lever.As a side note, one review complains about the grip being in the field of view on a full frame camera. Indeed, this is designed as an APS-C lens and so of course when using the entire full frame sensor you see heavy vignetting and your grip or fingers will get in the way. This is not a defect of the lens. Since it has no electrical connections a FF body will shoot it as a FF lens even though only designed for APS-C. Now actually a fair bit of the view beyond APS-C is still usable and so it can be useful to have some of this extra field of view but one should not be surprised to see issues beyond the intended APS-C field of view.I was disappointed at the shoddy workmanship of this lens. It looks like a quite functional design and the optics, when properly assembled, are decent and useful within reasonable expectations for such a lens. Unfortunately the efforts put into the design have been wasted as the manufacturer appears incapable of reliably producing the item. I suspect some of the other negative reviews of this lens are also down to just very poor manufacturing quality control. I see a few people won the lottery and got a properly assembled lens and I wish I could have been as lucky ;) Amazon has been straightforward with both returns but I'm not going to waste my time or their money rolling the dice on a third copy. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What it is, what it's not *by M***K on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 19, 2021* Got it today and played with it so this is a "first impression" review. I like it alot on my Z7. It will give you a wide-angle fish-eye view of your subject, like a GoPro photo. Outside of the Manual Focus Lever there's nothing to control. The lever setting is from 0.3 for close-up, to infinity and is not overly critical. The camera will be in Aperture Prioity or Manual Modes only. Camera Internal Body Image Stabilization is NOT available. To change shutter speed you can adjust ISO. Handholding the camera I got best picture clarity by setting ISO to whatever value allowed a shutter speed of 1/1000.In FX, 5:4 and 16:9 image area, the image is chopped off in the corners and the fingers of your right hand will appear in the photo!
