Fontaniniby Roman Inc., The Birth of Christ, 5" Holy Family Collection, Nativity Figure and Accessories, Hand Sculpted and Painted

I collect nativity scenes from around the world, and Fontanini's "The Birth of Christ" is an exquisite addition to my collection. First of all, it's very unique, in the way the Blessed Virgin Mary is holding Baby Jesus. The facial expressions on both her and St. Joseph are awe inspiring. I also love that all 3 figures are in one single piece, as the Holy Family, since it makes it easier to display and store after Christmas. Finally, I love that it's a 5-inch scale, and that there are other pieces I can complement it with, such as an Angel, the shepherd, etc. I plan to purchase them in the future to complete a nativity scene. I highly recommend this stunning piece of art!

It has nice details and and it is of good quality. I found it to be too pricey for the size. It is small.

I have a large ceramic nativity set, but I wanted something smaller and not breakable--and a bit more traditional feeling. With one of my favorite comic book characters being Huntress, a set from Italy was in proper order. Decided to start with the Holy Family--but couldn't decide which one (I liked different pieces in 'sets' and was going to buy the three separately to get the combination I liked best), then I found this piece. Loved each one of the representations--and REALLY loved the way they are one piece. No losing the Baby Jesus! And you never see sets where they are laying Him in, just ones where He is already in the manger, so it makes a more unique nativity set. The detailing is lovely--although I will note that the colors aren't as bright as the photo, much more muted. At first I wasn't sure I liked it, but I actually do now--gives the piece an older feel rather than something that seems right off a store shelf. Definitely will be buying the rest of the Fontanini set now. Not cheap, but will very much end up being an heirloom set.

I love this nativity! It is beautiful, truly unique--I've never seen one like this. Also, it is a very tender & reverent representation of this very special event-the birth of Jesus Christ. The colors are beautiful.

I purchased this to go with other Fontanini items for my Christmas decorating - the living room has a nativity & wise men theme. Beautiful like all of Fontanini items.
