ALZO digital Easy Frame Diffuser and Reflector Scrim Kit for Photography Lighting, Free-Standing or Hand-Held, 40 Inch Metal Frame with Angle Adjustment Handle, 4 Fabrics

I've tried many different portable reflectors and diffusers but needed something that could stand on its own when I'm on my own or be held up in the air by an assistant. I needed something affordable however! I was really impressed with the quality of the construction for the price. It is lightweight, yet strong, easy to assemble and has a nice handle that can be used as a stand at varying angles. It comes with a very nice carrying case. My only challenge was disassembly but that will get easier with practice I'm sure. It would also be nice if the bag had a carrying strap as I'm usually lugging lots of different things on-location.

I've spent many years using grip equipment and can confirm that this unit may be the exception the rule of 'You get what you pay for.'I cant believe something this solid and portable is now available so cheap. Like any scrim or flag, you have to be smart about how you use it, especially outside (wind) and near hot lights inside. But it gives me EXACTLY what I need for roughly 1/3 of the price that I would normally pay. The real test will be in how long the tightening hardware on the frame lasts...thats usually what separates a worthy grip investment from junk.Bonus for coming in a nice discreet black carrying bag, though the bag does lack a handle.--------------------------------------UPDATE: After using this regularly (2-3 times per week) since I wrote my initial review a couple of years back, it's clear that the quality of sewing on the fabric is terrible. The part that attaches to the stand is also cheaply made and barely working - It's still quite functional (and portable), but considering the 40% price increase since I bought it, I can't say it's such a great value anymore.

I never write reviews, but have to give credit here. I received this Wednesday night, took it on a run and gun job Thursday and it was a godsend. I typically have to use a 4x reflector and/or Scrimjim on these jobs, both of which are tough to lug around, take up space on the cart, and require time to set up. Very tough if I'm working solo. I used this right off the bat in place of a 4x, bouncing off the soft side for a key light. Moments later I had an interview in a tiny office with no room to bounce, so I switched to diffusion and pumped a fresnel through it from a foot away. (Not the most beautiful diffusion ever, but it was a-ok for this situation. I may try to outfit some full grid and unbleached musiln with straps that can accomodate this frame.) This thing is so quick, so flexible, and takes up no space on a cart. I imagine I'll have it with me on small-crew jobs for years to come.

This scrim seems like a great value for what you get. It is very portable, easy to set up, and comes with several reflector styles. However, my product came with a deformed plastic nut (picture attached), which means I can't tighten the collar that attaches the handle to the frame. Because of this, the scrim flops downward and can't actually be held up using the handle, making this a non-functioning product.I will update my review if support responds. If I decide not to return this product, I will have to go to the hardware store to buy a wing nut or some other part that will allow me to tighten the collar on the frame.

I love this. It solves so many problems. A diffuser, reflector, silver, gold and the other sides of the silver and gold has a mixed white silver material. It is good when you are short handed, as you can prop it at several different degrees for reflecting underneath subject. Then you can fix it to a stand as a diffuser or reflector. I do believe Alzo has a 49" larger one, but I opted for this, as I think any bigger might be a bit hard to handle. As a diy person I have made larger v flats that can diffuse and reflect with a frame and ripstop, However, I could not make something like this for the money and the material provided - well worth the money. It has elastic running through the frame for quick erection. Great product.
