Strong Hold with a Natural Matte Finish
This hair clay provides a strong hold without making hair feel stiff or greasy. The matte finish looks very natural, and it works well on different hair types. I like that it’s oil free, has a light natural scent, and washes out easily. It also helps add texture and thickness. Great quality product and a little goes a long way.

A Clay That Works Wonders!
My brother uses so much different products in his hair, it's rather ridiculous. I have been looking for a cruelty-free, high-quality, natural styling clay for my brother to use and I believe I found it in Smooth Viking Styling Clay! After using this product for a week, my brother won't leave it alone. He likes to do those pompadours and retro styles using this stuff and I am amazed at how well it keeps all day! A little goes a long way with this product, it's so thick you got to rub it in your hands to warm it up a bit and when you do, it becomes like a sticky liquid. The smell reminds me of a floral Elmer's Glue. (A clay is a clay, I suppose!) So if you are someone who doesn't like that kinda smell, I'd recommend something else or at the very least, use a little of this because it can overwhelm you. (The first time my brother used it, when he'd walk by..I'd get a huge whiff of the stuff!) It's a very concentrated styling clay and despite the smell, it works wonders for getting those looks on point! My brother had mentioned that the smell is well worth it, because he loves how well it holds his hair and how it doesn't give off shine. The matte finish is what really sold him! It's Pliable and durable and the 2oz container is actually pretty generous! I have noticed some volume in my brothers hair, as well. The texture and the thickness of the clay must create that extra va-voom! I am impressed and so is my brother. We both have rated it the same, 5/5! -The following rating comes from: 1 star- Packaging. (Is the item packaged well?) 1 star- Quality & Materials. (Is the item made well?) 1 star- Functions & Usability. (Does the item work well?) 1 star- Construction & Design. (Does the item look good?) 1 star- Quality Strength & Weight. (Does the item feel good?) -How I review: Based on those 5 mentions above, I take everything into consideration before posting a final review. Also, I use mere common sense when it comes to rating. Is the product worth this amount of stars? Is it not? What would I improve? Is the negative I dislike, if any at all, something that is an error in construction & design or is it something the company couldn't possibly control? And, if all else fails, can I do something to alternate or change the ability of this negative? All this and more is considered before I post. I do a lot of shopping on Amazon, so I decided to take the liberty to post reviews on items I think deserve it. Because I want people who are genuinely interested to know more about the product before they commit. These are my own opinions, I am doing this review merely for the sake of reviewing and expressing my freedom to review. Thank you!

Good product
I was a big fan and user of the FX Surf head for a long time but the product is now discontinued. I had a very hard time finding a new product/substitute. Either products made my hair too hard/crunchy, had a weird smell, not enough hold, etc. After seeing many positive amazon reviews on this company I decided to try one of their products. After doing some research on hair types etc, I decided to go for the styling clay. So far I very much like this product. The product itself is a bit hard and clumpy, but you have to really work it into your palms to smooth out before application. So far I have had best success when hair is slightly damp, not wet and not completely dry. The hold is very good, not great, but keeps my hair in the right place for an entire day. Sweating and activity seem to weaken it a bit what I love the most is how natural it is in my hair. My hair basically feels soft while the product is in all day while still giving it a very neat look. I keep my hair pretty short (about a 5) and that is where it was working the best. Was slightly less happy with the results when my hair grew out 2-3 weeks later. But still very happy compared to other products I was using. I will stick to this product for now. Does anyone have any recommendations for another smooth viking product they like better?

Very little hold
The product is ok. I like the consistency and the matte finish. My big complaint is that it has no hold. I used it a few times already but it offers very little hold.

Little goes a long way! Nice product overall
To be honest, I’m very picky when it comes to hair clay. I’ve been using the same product pretty much everyday for many years but now they’ve stopped selling that one (or can’t find it anywhere) so I decided to try this one out - and it did not disappoint at all. The reviews were mostly good with some OK ones. This particular clay is a different texture than the one I had before (Label M Deconstructor) so wasn’t sure at first how much to use but I’ll say it - a little goes a long way. The small box lasts me quite a while and applies nicely. Has decent hold but I tend to spray 1-2x hairspray for extra good measure. In my case it doesn’t effect the sheen of it. Washes easily from hands afterwards with luke warm water Overall, great product and value for the money. Happy that I went with this one.

Smells like a 1980s bowling alley shoe. Also, doesn't work.
What to expect: First thing you'll notice is the price. This is 100% more for 33% less product than the "industry standard' for comparable product. But online reviews of smooth viking are good and quality is worth the extra money, so why not spend the extra money? When excitedly opening your new "awesome" package of hair product, you find the flyer for free stuff; it is as if they are bribing people to leave good reviews... Could be cool, but could also be a bad sign if you bought this based on online reviews. Then, open the lid to dip your finger in and you can't escape the odor; it smells terrible. The closest thing I can describe it is stale cigarette smoke. Not fresh smoke, but old smoke like a 1980s bowling alley during kids hour. It's a little fresher than an ash tray, like a bowling alley used scent-free shoe spray which cuts the rankness a bit. But it doesn't smell like they even tried to cover the foul aroma with something like Fabreeze. You figure, "looking good has some drawbacks and I'm sure the odor goes away." Despite the smell, you apply it to your hair anyways. You'll find it takes about 3x more product than whatever you are used to, but looking good has its costs. Then you find it doesn't matter if your hair is wet or dry, finger it in or comb it in; the clay just doesn't keep those hairs where they should be. Sure, the bulk of your hair will be good, but stray hairs will frizz out which is odd if you have smooth soft hair. You give it a final fix and straighten everything out before heading out for the day. Then, after several hours you see you find yourself in the restroom and catch a glance in the mirror. Basically, this stuff is as effective as plain water and does nothing when it dries. Your hair is a mess and you have no idea how many people looked at you and thought you were a disheveled idiot. The container said "water soluble," so you wet your hair to revive it and walk out of the restroom looking like you took a shower in the sink. Repeat that several times through the day. The next morning you see it sitting there and you figure yesterday's bad experience was a fluke, so you try it again and maybe change the way you apply it. Repeat that several days until you finally throw it away and leave a bad review to counteract all those bribed / paid-for reviews on Amazon

Strong hold and matte finish
This hair clay has a strong hold and gives a natural matte finish. It's not greasy and washes out easily. The scent is light. A little goes a long way. Very satisfied.

Ottima!

The Perfect Matte Styler
After years of using pharmacy hair gels, I finally caved and bought this product. A little pricey compared to what I was used to but MAN the difference is incredible! Using 1 or 2 pea sized amounts will keep thin slick hair matted and up for the day! No oily build up or nasty clumps. Feels great while its in there- no itchyness or anything. It's a little bit hard to get out once it's in, but I'd say that's more of a plus because you don't need to reapply it at any point. Will definitely be sticking with this from now on.

Viking clay
i have tried in my past lots of hair products but must say this clay is the best by far. So if you looking for good clay, don't look any father. Is strong enough to hold my hair during my workout and texture is nice making my hair thicker. Smell is gentle, not overpowering but lovely

Buen producto
Buen producto de peinado, no es tan firme como promete, pero sí es más fácil de aplicar que la fiber de American Crew y tiene menos olor. Buen aspecto de no llevar nada en el pelo.

My finger's skin peeled off
Don't think this is organic as stated - my skin touching the clay for past few days peeled off. That will happened to my hair as well. Similar to other clay, I am buying.
