I bought this for the cheep refills but the vases are nice i suppose. They are plastic if that makes a difference for you.

I'm having a hard time getting the melted plastic from my pen to stick to the skull canvas. It's too smooth and the kit doesn't even give you a set of instructions on how to make the design stay on the skull. This has made me very frustrated because I really want to be able to decorate the skull.

I love sugar skulls so I wanted to design my own. The kit comes with a skull that is about 5" high. It has a nice heft to it, which surprised me pleasantly. There is more than enough filament to decorate it and the color assortment is suitable for the project. But the skull is kind of smooth, which makes it hard for the plastic to adhere. There were places where it stuck very well and others, where I had to use some glue to keep it in place.If it were a bit more textured, I think that would have solved the problem. Still a fun kit, but needs some refining.
