2X Green Military Log Books, Record Books, Memorandum Books, 8 X 10-1/2 Green Log Book NSN 7530-00-222-3525 by AbilityOne

I started purchasing these record books from the Government Services Administration (GSA) in Washington DC back in the 1990s. I can’t remember what I paid, but given my government salary at the time, I can’t imagine it was very much. It was money well spent as one of my still-in-use books is 30 years old this year. The pages have not yellowed and the integrity of the stitching, spine, cover and endsheets is intact.These record books are produced by AbilityOne which is a government procurement vendor – they are the real deal and not a knock off. I purchased a dozen of these books nearly two years ago and they are produced in much the same manner as my books from long ago. Other reviewers have noted that the cover wrap is not cloth, but a patterned paper. The difference is not noticeable in color, texture or strength. It is noticeable in density – the paper wrap is thinner – but you have to pull apart the book like I did to see that difference.The materials in use today are probably lighter and have better tensile strength than those of yesteryear not to mention paper is probably cheaper to make and bind than cloth. After much handling over the past couple of years, I haven’t noticed undue fraying, scuffing or tearing of my record books with this paper cover. I’ll post an update in 30 years. Until then, I think this is a good buy of a popular and classic record-keeping book.

These books have a hard cover which is great to protect the many wonderful pages inside. When you use this in conjunction with a writing instrument you will be able to let your creative talents go wild all the while knowing that your pages will be protected from most household hazards ( cats and dogs excluded) . Once you have it filled up with all your marvels of penmanship you can display this handsome book on your bookshelf right along with your other works of art. You wont be disappointed

This is straight from the company. These are exactly what I used in the military/NAVY. Still great notebooks or record keeping. The company even called me to verify the order and asked if this was a private or government purchase. Told them it was a private purchase and it was because of the longevity and durability of the book.

I've been using these books since I was in the Merchant Marines. It is my log. I used it on the ship as my log and to this day they are the perfect daily accounting books. I'm a lefty so it is important I can write over the middle seam and these books are not that thick that it causes problems. As long as they are being sold I'll be buying them.

A genuine knockoff of the original GOV issue. The leaves work as well as any other notebook. The cover is a bit flimsy and seems to stain from its own adhesive. Otherwise same as original.

Nice, quality journals! Will be used as lab notebooks at work. Bindings are a bit tight, so they don't lay as flat as I would like, but hopefully that will improve with use. Although listed as military logbooks, you can get these federal service journals through most federal agencies.

schoolkids or a traveling executive can use this. These books are indestructible. I have used these for years and always will.

These notebooks are the absolute best. I have had some for over 5 years they truly stand the test of time.
