Wonderful STEAM Gift
I bought this for my cousin's daughter's 5th birthday party. I knew she was going to get mostly dolls, dresses and costumes, so I wanted to mix things up a bit with this. It seemed like a good age-appropriate Science Tech Engineering Art Math (STEAM) toy. What inspired me was my friends and quaintances who are in various STEM and STEAM fields. As a STEM / STEAM reference, a lot of the folks I know who are engenieers or designers of some sort say their favorite toys were things they could build and take apart. Bonus for these is that they don't hurt as much to step on, unlike Legos or a pulled apart electronic device. I can't guarantee kids will be STEAM career adults with this, but it is definitely fund to dabble in such activities.Truthfully, she initially wasn't very excited about it (she had more applause and familiarity with dolls and dresses, after all), but after visiting a couple months later she seems to continuously play with it. Her older brother, who is first grade (and loves action figures/dolls and costumes), had a similar ration. Their younger 2 year old sister completely ignored this toy, but now seems to love playing with it as well. (The shape pieces are big, so I don't worry about the toddler accidentally swallowing the larger bits, though I would still not suggest to leave them unsupervised.) All three fight over who gets to play with the pieces. They all love making things, and then smashing them! They don't seem that interested in the walls, windows, and wheels, so I may get them just more shape pieces next get together.I actually showed them how to put it together the first day. The storage box they came it just fit the pieces, so one has to carefully stack them to get them in there. That is the one small quibble I have with it. Other than that, this product is great! The pictured instruction booklet was nice. The adults at the party had fun playing with the designs, and actually seemed more interested in the toy than the kids! This is also a good bonding toy with the kids, or (let's be real) something to keep adults entertained in what might be a tedious children's birthday party. The magnetic holds are not strong. If you do things like build the airplane or the car from the book, one has to carfully pick it up. It is easy to loose magnetic conection and accidently smash your new constrcution. That sort of upset the kids initially. They didn't get that it was ok to smash it, and were a bit upset when they saw how long it took to build something, only to see it come undone easily. (Maybe a good life lesson in there!) Like I said earlier, they've thankfully actually grown fond of building and smashing! Their dexterity wasn't 100% there the first day, but upon visiting them again they had no problems manipulating the pieces in to the way they wanted. So, all in all, this toy seems wonderful in developing dexterity, as well as talking about shapes, colors, counting, artful building designs, etc.

Too thin
I run an after-school club for students age 3-7. The vast majority of the STEM toys I buy is for that club and they get put through the paces harder and faster than most toys deserve to be. Also, Darwinism leads kids to play with some, and ignore others.Unfortunately these magnet tiles are much thinner than most other brands. While it works well together, just at the touch you can tell it's not what most other sets do. The castle pieces and the wheel pieces are appreciated, but no students in the 3-7 years old range wanted to use them to do anything despite multiple times showing them how to click them together. In general, it's just too physically difficult for kids that age to do that and take them apart again. While the girls liked the colors, they started gravitating to the brighter colors of the other, thicker brands almost immediately and these have definitely played second fiddle to them for weeks now.

Fun toy for toddler, sometimes sides repel each other
Bought these for my 3.5 year old daughter. She already has magnatiles, and loves them; so I thought this would be something different. She does really like clicking the design pieces into place. I would say these can become somewhat crooked when you build up because of the single middle magnet (magnatiles have 2 on each side, 8 total per square), but they are surprisingly sturdy. These are super well priced compared to magnatiles, I would say the only flaw is when stacking them back together, they repel unless they face the same direction (which you can’t tell by looking at them) so they are hard to put back together in a stack. Box is super small, not easy to get it all back into the box, you have to line everything up into stacks. Overall happy with them

Weak magnets, needs improvement
Pros:-Cute color scheme-Excellent design book-Interesting looking vehicles-Lots of pieces, large setCons:-Magnets are too small/weak-Pieces are smaller than some sets-24 of the pieces are not magnetic, just friction fit "windows"-Plastic pieces are too big to fit inside structures and are difficult to install without knocking the structure down.Suggestions:-Make magnets larger or more magnets per side-Reduce the edge on the non magnetic plastic pieces so they can be used as floors inside of the buildings/vehicles.I wanted to love this set, but we will be returning it. Daughter wants to be able to play with creations using small people but the buildings would fall down while trying to use them. I could barely get a small building 2 tiles high and 2 tiles wide built without it falling down.I highly recommend the alternative set made by this manufacturer. Tiles have a flat square side and can easily stack 4 tiles tall. Tiles are slightly larger also making it easier to use for action figures like Duplo people. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07J1Q2DRM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Above set is also compatible with these large tiles: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0713QW8GL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Alternatively, you can get the pricer MagFormers which seem similar design but more stable.
