Yes, you can use it with olive oil.. make sure you buy the one's they sold on amazon for oil lamps or for shabbat

Why is it that my wick goes down and I have to move it from the bottom every week? It is getting to be a very short wick

It's not a permanent wick. You'r lucky you got yours with wicks. When I opened mine there were no wicks included and I would up throwing them out.
