I call it my grid map. It is very easy to use, I use mine every time even if I am only going 50 miles and typically would take a major highway. I have found some beautiful scenes along the way and it may only add a couple minutes to the trip. I bought this map for my daughter's family, they like to explore. You learn much more from one of these maps than from a GPS. You get to see where you are in connection to say a major highway. The map will allow you to chose many alternate routes. You never know what you might see just around the corner. There are wonderful county roads throughout MN, but if you only use freeways or four lane highways, you never get to really experience our beautiful state. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DeLorme does it right. *by S***Y on September 17, 2013* Every little squiggle in the road, every little stream or pond. It's like zooming in and really getting to know the state, with lists of rivers and lakes, plus public access locations to them. Even fire trails in the wilderness are shown, as well as small streets in the cities.It's a book that goes with me on any trip. Sometimes I NEED it, but I always enjoy the connection between the printed page and the real location. It's wonderful for helping a child learn to navigate because it's easy to watch for a small bridge or side road, a slight curve in an otherwise straight road, etc., and they don't have to wait long to see the next landmark. We used the maps to explore the Superior shore north of Duluth and found them to be complete and accurate. Numbered Interstate exits are very helpful as are the numbered campgrounds, recreation areas and other features. One note of caution: Not all the green areas are state/national lands. This differs from the Delorme Michigan Atlas. I've had the Michigan book for several years and use it often. It's has held up well with no loose pages.
