pages are missing in an otherwise excellent book
This book is missing several pages in chapter 3––they are replaced by duplicates of pages from an earlier chapter. This is a definite problem as the book, unlike other books on Moneo, is primarily text. The author has carefully examined the thought and theory that serves as a foundation for some of the most remarkable and important architectural works of the last 30 years. In addition, they provide a precedent study and present the cultural fabric in which Moneo's work was shaped. Yale has produced a wonderful book––yet, it is troubled greatly by the missing pages. I don't suggest buying a copy until this problem has been corrected. Or, if you do chose to add what otherwise is a very good book to your shelf, be forewarned and check the following pages: missing––242, 243, 246, 247, 250, 251, 254 and 255. These are replaced, as I mentioned with duplicate pages from an earlier chapter. I feel as if I am reading a Julio Cortazar novel! I would gladly return it; however, as this discovery was made near the end of my reading, and the book is now laden with notations and black ink that records my thoughts, I am reluctant to part with it. Perhaps a corrected version could be sent to me…

A Classic Book on Architecture
This is the best, and only one work so far, on Moneo. It gives a comprehensive survey of his architectural production, in relation to his ideas, thoughts, and teaching. The authors show a deep and intimate understanding of Moneo, delving into some of the personal biographical background to explain certain aspects of his work, and the reasons behind some of its formal decisions. Moneo emerges rightfully from this 'study' as an architect in the classical sense of the word, someone who combines a critical and inquisitive attitude with a great cultural background, and a mastery of the art of building. At a time when architecture has veered off almost completely into 'digital games' that manipulate forms without content, this book is a timely reminder of greater values to which architecture should continue to aspire, as a key element in the definition of 'culture'.

This book is fantastic. A great architect and very well written
This book is fantastic. A great architect and very well written. Because of it I bought the critical anthology of Raphael Moneo 1967-2004 published by El Croquis.
