If you do some research as I did, there are many YouTube videos that compare Ring doorbells and The Ring Wired comes out as the best and most economical version. I did NOT have an existing bell, so I had to buy a adapter from Amazon as well, so i could plug bell into mains socket. The mains socket does not need to be near to the bell, mine is about 6 metres away and the adapter cable is so thin, you cant notice it, its not liking having an extension lead running around your house! You also dont need to by or already have an exsiting chime. It connects to your phone, so if you can hear your phone, you can hear the doorbell. It also connects to an Alexa if you really want to hear the Bell ring indoors. You also get PRE ROLL something that's not in the blurb but you get 3 seconds before action starts. VERY useful and only advertised on ring Pro versions. It uses a 'Fisheye' lens so, the field of view is much more than needed, i can see over the roof of house opposite as well as the ground by my front door. Its wide enough to cover neighbour's driveway either side of as well. Video quality is excellent, its 1080p which is HD so its going to be. Motion sensor works perfectly Night vision is also very good. Two way talk works very well, no complaints there either installed in about 10-15 mins (And Im not a DIY person!) just 2 screws in wall. If fact i have no complaints at all, why would anyone spend 200 quid on a doorbell when this does almost as much for 50! After all, its just a doorbell! If anyone told you 10 years ago, one day you would spend 50 quid on a doorbell, you would have laughed at how ridiculous that sounded. And yet here you are......... Just buy, job done

Purchased this wired ring doorbell to give it a try.since installing it I would now not be comfortable living without one.they are easy to set up just follow instructions.good WiFi is a must I had to purchase WiFi extender to get best results as my doorbell was a good distance from my router.apart from that it's fantastic.picture quality night and day is excellent.sound quality is excellent I can pic up birds chirping it's so good.it is a really well built piece of kit.it connects to all my Alexa devices no problem so I get alerts to whoever or whatever is prowling about around my home.i get 100%ease of mind knowing no matter where I am this device lets me know on my mobile phone who is at my door.i must state that since swapping my phone to 5g the system works perfectly on my mobile phone.its that good as it also connects to my other ring cameras around my home and outside I have installed one front and one back of the house.iam also using them wherever I want survalance as I can plug in wherever I want as it is 100% weather proof.my advice is to purchase on Amazon sales as I have paid as little as £23 for these just make sure you get plug in adaptor also in sales for as little as £9.99 .I looked around for different products with subscriptions and the ring one is really excellent value for money as many cameras and alarm system plus spotlights for £8 a month and you can feel safe with your home fully protected.or just £3 for one month for one doorbell cam video alarm because that's what this is.I can view listen record talk on all my screens in the house.also it allows you to share with family friends or even your trusted neighbours whats going on.I can't tell you what piece of mind this ring doorbell has given me.I give this 100% would highly recommend this doorbell.awsome.

It made sense for me to buy a wired Ring doorbell as my house already had an old wired doorbell, and as a family we have an Echo Show plus a couple of Echo Dots set up. For me we already had a set up that this device just slots right in with. This especially made sense with the fact that my old traditional doorbell chime didn’t work that well. I located my 1960s/70s Friedland bell transformer and after some internet searches found that it supposedly outputs 8v which is at the very lower end of what the Ring doorbell needs. I then located my equally old doorbell chime which was separate to the transformer. I ordered a used example from Amazon Warehouse but what turned up appeared to be a brand new one to me as the box was still sealed, this made it even better value for money! Installation is straight forward enough providing you know where your doorbell transformer and chime are located and that you have already done some basic wiring before (plug sockets etc.). The biggest hurdle for me was working out which wires in my doorbell chime related to the chime itself. These are the ones I had to find and short circuit using the provided link cable. For me trial and error worked and on my third attempt I found the right combination. Once the power was back on the doorbell sprung into life and set up was completed soon after that. In use the camera is nice and detailed and quickly identifies motion on my driveway. The microphone function is good but I doubt we’ll really use it. Being able to view the camera from our Echo Show, smartphone or internet explorer is a great feature and having it wired in means I don’t ever have to worry about battery life. The Ring app reports that my transformer voltage is at 11v so is in the ‘Good’ bracket. Not bad for a transformer / chime set up that is 50+ years old. In conclusion brilliant if you already have the right set up. I’ll report back if anything changes.

I was able to reuse my existing doorbell wiring to power the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. It’s easy to connect the wires to the doorbell but there isn’t much room behind the doorbell once it’s fitted to the doorframe for any excess cable. You will also need a power transformer unless your existing doorbell operates on the same voltage. Something that’s worth noting - the height of a normal doorbell is a little low for Ring doorbell so you don’t get the best angle - particularly when the visitor is standing close to the doorbell. You can get angled mounting plates to point the doorbell upwards which may help with this. Setup is super simple and you’re guided through it step by step. Image quality is good but not outstanding. It works well and I’ve had no issues so far. Overall it’s good value for money and I’d recommend this doorbell if you’re not after ultimate video quality.

As you friends know, unless you live in an apartment/flat - you are NOT protected from being bothered daily by every possible by-passer, sales guys, donations collector or "switch to us today"-er on the planet. Let me share my honest, 5 years of daily usage, no nonsense review. I am grateful that Lord enlightened me to get a video doorbell 5 years ago - life definitely improved since then! Beside being able to see who's there - you can just setup automatic replies or happily press "we're not interested, bye" - my god does it feel great! :D Jokes aside, let me quickly summarise what I've found good and what to keep in mind, in the past 5 years: Good stuff: 1. Easy install and quick setup. You connect it to the same wires of your old doorbell. 2 wires, that's it. No high voltage, no stress. Now for setup - you don't need a degree in IT, happy days. Ring devices, and this doorbell is not an exception - were very easy and straight forward to set up even before our AI, job taking friends, were a thing. What I mean is you don't need to ask chatGPT on how to set it up and troubleshoot it along the way. Phone app tell you step by step what to do. 2. Convenience & Comfort taken to square. It is not just seeing who's there and being able to open just to whom you want to, it is also convenience to ask you deliveries to be handled to neighbours or another safe place, it's seeing who and who's dog/cat left a poor right at the front door, it's keeping your car safe, side entrance safe - depending how you set it up, etc etc etc. It ends to do a lot more than just what comes into your mind when you say video-doorbell. 3. Brilliant functionality and smart features. Just to list a few: - Convenient and clear event history with snapshots, time and type of alert. - You can add accessories like chime, plug in adapter if you have no old doorbell connection, hardwired transformer, wedge and corner kits to give your doorbell a good angle towards where you need, a solar security sign, a new faceplate, upgrade for intercom, etc. - You have all sort of alerts settings, like video previews, smart alerts for example specifically for deliveries or animals, getting a call when somebody rings your doorbell (need subscription), different alert tones for motions and rings,etc. - Love the amount of different chimes + kids & adults love the ones available specifically for example for halloween - trust me this is something everybody enjoys and you need to hear (youtube should have it if you're interested). - Setting your own motion detection zones (multiple). Super cool and useful feature, big time and most importantly works like clockwork. For us it's been very important since we have a footpath right in front of our house, not past the parking spaces (if you architected such "smart" design by any chance, call me, we need to seriously talk :D ) - so people & animals pass in front of the door and house super often. This zoning not just helps but simply made real to monitor what is important including the side entrance and the car - without having a million of constant notifications from by-passers. - More nice tricks like: colour night vision, customisable video recording length, privacy zones, smart responses & quick replies that can play in a customisable amount of time, ability to silence alerts & motion detections if you work or clean in front of the house or for any other reasons, etc, etc. - I also have a ring alarm, additional ring sensors, several alexa devices - and I simply love how well all this devices integrate together in one app! In the same app you can set your all home security including your ring doorbell to work correctly with specific modes like home, disarmed or away. You can set up for example what motion, alarms and notifications your ring doorbell does in each mode. 4. Connectivity wise, depending how far is your wifi router and connection in general - there might be a small lag. Mine is super close to the doorbell so I never had issues in this regard. 5. In sense of durability, running like clockwork for 5 years, seen all the storms, winds and rain we had here in Ireland - and we get enough haha - so far super happy with the durability. CONS / TO NOTE: You might need to pay more, depending what you need. For example be aware that for improved functionality you need a 40 euro/year subscription for one device or 10 per month for multiple devices. Now, don't get me wrong, you get the key doorbell functionality without the subscriptions, like checking who's there, alerts when someone rings, two way talk. But subscription enriches functionality making it a security device integrated with other ring systems if you have them. Subscription brings stuff like video & alerts storage for all the stuff you miss, smart alerts, rich notifications with pictures (which sometimes lag btw), extended live view, 24/7 recordings but for Premium (even more expensive level). In fairness I have friends who don't need all this stuff and live fine without any subscriptions. Also, keep in mind that your old chime in the house might not work with this ring doorbell. Mine did not, and it's fixable with a little transformer / bridge, but I decided not to bother as I have multiple alexa devices and an actual ring chime too - they all can play sounds even better than an old chime. BUT - keep this in mind. Do I recommend it? Honestly, yes. In my opinion, for the convenience you get a video doorbell is almost a must. Considering the price - this is probably one of the best video doorbells out there and in my opinion definitely the best ring doorbell. You have other, newer, fancier, higher quality ring doorbells - but they all do the same stuff :) So unless you need super-duper high quality picture and you want to read badges of everybody who rings in to your door (is it tv licence inspector, yikes!) - then trust me, this1080p HD quality doorbell just does the job, and does it well! Really good doorbell camera good pictures very clear well worth the money

I bought this hard wired version as I didn’t want to have to worry about batteries draining just as an intruder was breaking in! It has given me lots of fun as well as a feeling of security. I live in a small circle of houses and it has taken “twitching at the nets” to a whole new level 🤣. I can see when my elderly neighbour has got home safely after dark (the doorbell has good night vision). I can see if the postman has a parcel for me, or if it’s for the people who never take parcels for the rest of us and he’s trying to palm it off. I can see when younger family members have arrived home when I’m out, without having to keep messaging them to check. You can share access with other people too, so family members can check you’re safely home also. In the age of parcel deliveries, it has been a godsend. I saw my EVRI lady deliver my parcel to someone else’s house, even though she’d marked it as being delivered to mine. Because she is lovely, she collected it for me because she’d mistakenly posted it to the aforementioned problem neighbour, who would have kept it for a month. I could go on… These are general points about this sort of doorbell, I suppose, but this RING doorbell is reliable and of good quality. The subscription needs to be borne in mind if you want to see the stored videos of activity recorded. This is £49.99 for a full year at the time of writing which works out at £4.10 a month. There have been occasions when the motion sensor keeps alerting me and there is nobody there; I think this may be due to wind, and I intend to reposition the plants by my door to stop any moving leaves setting it off. But, in general, this is a quality item and has been an unregrettable purchase. I had an electrician swap this for my old doorbell. It may be easy for you to do, but I know my limits. Having said that, he admitted to being clueless about software and this was easy for me to do myself. Set up is done through the app and you are talked through it.

Extremely disappointing product that can be quite frustrating to cope with. To begin with, the product (and accompanying instructions) were designed for the US based market. As such, it becomes quite difficult to even understand how to connect this on existing UK/EU systems. The instructions provided do not lead to a working device (especially the one instructing you to install a resistor between your wires). The customer service team supporting this is excellent, having said that but there is a limit to what they can do with an unstable system. In my case, it was questionable whether the original existing doorbell system would work with this; it didn't work the first time round and this was a fairly old conventional doorbell system. As such, the support team had specified the requirements of a newer alternative off the shelf conventional system which I could use to connect thereafter their device on it. Despite buying and installing the new doorbell system, the connection instructions still did not work. I had to omit completely the installation of their resistor shunt between two of the wires (and the support team seemed to be aware of that being problematic). The doorbell did work for a bit after omitting this step. Its voltage and current specs were down to the t of what was informed to me over the phone and email by the support team and the wifi connection was excellent (router was a couple of meters away from this). Diagnostics test on the device itself were all good. However, the doorbell device kept entering a continuous rebooting loop at random times. Just to be clear, no it was not caused by a power connection issue nor by a weak internet connection. I believe it came down solemnly to the quality of manufacture/configuration for this item. The product is unstable. And no, this was not a one off defective device. I had tried a second brand new out of the box device and it crashed in the same way a few days after installation. The problem is that I was installing this to a house where elterns are living (that were non tech savvy) to complement an alexa ecosystem I had already build in their home for them to video call their family. The fact that the device was entering an infinite boot loop and the only way to stop it was to physically have to unscrew its cover before pressing a small reset button for a while and then having to reconfigure this from scratch over a smartphone app, definitely was the nail on the coffin for this. The cherry on the pie was the fact that when the device was entering the infinite loop (note that the first time this happened after midnight) in every reboot cycle it would ring their normal doorbell that this was connected to. So you had two older people awaken in the middle of the night not knowing what was going on with their doorbell ringing once every few seconds! The owners completely lost their trust to the system and wanted this removed. They preferred a stable, test and tried system (like their old, switch operated doorbell) than something that could become unstable in a way that was causing a major inconvenience to them. The added fact that resetting this would have been impossible for them was definitely not helpful nor does the fact that this would randomly (in days/hours fail again after resetting). It's a pity overall because during the time that it did work properly the owners were quite excited by the functionality. The stability issues nevertheless understandably killed this idea off.
