Will this cook outside on a sunny day in cold climates? Lets say maybe 40ish degree F?

If you can see your own shadow then it will cook. Outside temperature is irrelevant. Aiming properly at the sun is an important factor.

will it purify water?

I just got my sport at Quartzsite, AZ 1/27/18 & they had a 16/20 oz tube for water with handle with steam coming out of it that should be out before summer. You just turn it so it is vertical & put the a tube in the tube that had a handle & held 16/20 oz. so you could make coffee, purify water or heat water for freeze dried/dehydrated food or what ever you need hot water for.

Can I cook a whole turkey with this?

Yes if you do it some pieces at a time but you will probably have to cut the pieces so they will fit. You might want to look at the fusion which is a larger product buy Gosun but you will be able to cook more in it.
