I recently ordered the MAG-Mate 900WF Bendable Magnetic Pickup Tool, and it’s quickly become one of those “why didn’t I buy this sooner?” tools. The bendable shaft is the real standout feature—it holds its shape well and makes it easy to reach into tight, awkward spaces like behind engines, under workbenches, or inside wall cavities. I’ve used it to retrieve dropped bolts, screws, and even a small wrench, and the magnet is surprisingly strong for its size. It grips securely without feeling like it’s going to lose hold halfway through pulling something out. Build quality feels solid overall. The handle is comfortable to grip, and the flexibility of the shaft doesn’t feel flimsy or prone to snapping. It strikes a nice balance between being flexible enough to maneuver and rigid enough to maintain control. If I had one small critique, it’s that in extremely tight corners, positioning the tip can take a bit of patience—but that’s more about the nature of the job than the tool itself. Overall, this is a reliable, well-designed pickup tool that does exactly what it promises. Whether you’re working in a garage, doing home repairs, or just tired of losing small metal parts in hard-to-reach places, it’s a worthwhile addition to your toolkit.

This magnet saved the day! I normally don't write reviews, but today is an exception. Part of the dipstick broke off inside my car engine leaving a 3.25" strip of metal at the bottom of my oil pan. My options were to either leave it (and hope nothing happens), see if I could fish it out with a tethered magnet like this one, or lift the engine to drop the oil pan to find it. The beauty of this magnet is that it's attached to a copper rod which is bendable allowing you to get into areas otherwise not accessible. After some tries the end of my broken dipstick came out of the drain plug hole in my oil pan.

I was disconnecting my car battery and the socket from my wrench fell off into the abyss of my engine bay. Aargh!! It completely disappeared and I had no idea where it was. Panic!! What should I do? I was scared to drive my car, worried that the socket would fly up when I drove over a bump and get caught up in my engine and cause irreparable damage. I googled the problem thinking that at least one other person on the planet would have been stupid enough to lose their socket in their engine bay. Surprisingly, I found that this even happens to actual mechanics... and they use one of these magnetic tools to fish out the things they've dropped. I decided on this particular model based on the good reviews. When it arrived, it seemed too short and small to be of any help and I had no hope whatsoever that this tool would yield any results. I thought I should at least try and I half-heartedly fished around the bottom of my engine bay with it, not knowing where the socket was and not being able to see if I was even anywhere near it. After a minute, I decided it was pointless and lifted the tool out of the engine and....OMG!!! The socket was stuck to the end of the magnet!! This tool works like magic. It's worth every penny. So relieved I can drive my car again!

This combines the flexibility of copper building wire with a strong magnet on a small tip to really allow you to hunt into the tight spots. I idiotically dropped a 1/4in T30 torx bit into the crank case on my Triumph Bonneville. With 2 other magnetic pickup tools I tried and failed for HOURS to get the little guy out of there. I fished in through the oil drain, down from the top along the timing chain. No love. I was beginning to think I might have to hoist the bike up by its wheels and shake the thing loose (lol) or worse. Within 5 minutes of opening this product I had sweet victory. The small head and flexible but strong shaft on this allowed me to push and wiggle past the timing sprocket and retrieve the would-be engine murderer. Highly recommend. And it’s USA made.

I've been using one of these at work for picking up hardware that inevitably falls into crooks and crannies where fingers cannot reach. For a mechanic, it is an amazing time saver. I decided to get another one for my home projects because I use it so much (maybe it's because I have clumsy fingers?) Bends in any configuration, because it's never a straight line to wherever you need to reach. Bends hundreds of times and won't break!

This magnetic pickup is super flexible. The overall design is made to get into difficult positions. Thus the magnet itself is small, but has decent power, and the super flexible rod will probably not last forever. That said if you need something that can do what this does this is the perfect tool. I am glad it now is a part of my kit. Given that I won't need to resort to this fine tool most of the time it should last a long time. Not cheap junk. Jay

Strong magnet, will pick up small wrenches. Might have to wrap the sides with electrical tape if your having problems with it sticking to everything but what your trying to grab.

25" does not all flex and as a result the flex part is shorter than I thought. I am not sure if this model arrived with the 3lb or 5lb holding power because Amazon states both either in the specs or in the description. 3 stars for Amazon misleading me less than normal and 2 stars removed for messing with a great company.

No mide las 25", llega hasta las 24 3/8". La punta mide 5/16" y sostiene una matraca de 1/2 sin problema!!! :) Yo creo que la 1/2" que le falta no le resta méritos a la herramienta... Seguro sirve para rescatar muchas piezas pequeñas (que es lo que suele extraviarse)... Muy recomendable!

Very useful , saved me many times when losing a bolt , nut or socket when working on an engine

I could not even see where a nut has gone inside the engine side of the car. Tried a lot of things nothing worked. But this worked like charm with a bit of patience and trial and error.

Lost my original one and found these, so good I bought 2.
