This is a Christmas present for someone. But, they are excited about receiving it.

I'm a black man who bought this book to make my own assessment.A very Christian book. Some sentences have the same impact as Scripture even when the Bible wasn't quoted. So Christian that the Satanic pro-slavery Democrats of the old South had to invent a boot-licking, self-hating parody in blackface to counter it. That bastardized Uncle T is what the slur is based on.The good, the beautiful, the ugly and the evil depicted in this work of fiction comes from the lives of real people. (Check out A Key To Uncle Tom's Cabin.) On the edge of my seat at times. Hoped. Laughed. Cried. Rejoiced. Praised God.What I didn't like was when the author spoked directly to the reader. I think the book would have been just as effective without who direct appeals. Nor did I like the phoneticizing of the speech of certain characters regardless of their race. It wasn't always clear what words were represented by these southern accents. (And I like accents!) And for some strange reason a Cyrillic letter appeared in the text 3(?) times. A 'zhe' to be exact. And sometimes she used initials in t he place of the names of cities and people. (To protect the innocent or guilty????)

Hard cover matches the paper cover. Love it

Uncle Tom was a hero.
