Review: as per recommendation of an aerospace engineer and a gun collector I purchased my first bottle (windex type bottle) many years ago to use for a longer term storage on firearms. Well, product does NOT disappoint, as a matter of fact - it preserves my firearms and enhances blue in the metal as well (important, as I do a number of restorations and this is my 'sealer' after applying bluing solution). I found it to be safe on inside/outside/wood/polymer(composite) stocks/inside bores... As a test(my first bottle), I had a take off swede mauser barrel cut in half (not the long way) and left both halves side by side outside in July or August in NE WI. One half was as is, another half was lightly coated inside and out with LPS3 - two weeks later (sun, due, humidity and we had one small rain shower) I went to the back of the garage where these two were... untreated half was rusty inside and out, other half (treated) looked as it was just brought outside. this stuff does NOT cause any long term damage to any parts of the firearm (metal/composites/wood). It will create a fine film (almost wax like), so use your best judgement when applying to firing pin channels, precision triggers and etc - it won't cause harm but it will affect mechanical performance with added friction if you do not clean it and apply heavy (same goes for your first /cold shot in the barrel - I run a patch with a more viscous gun oil). I use both, this spray and a windex type bottle. for cold weather users - it will thicken, so be advised as far as firearms moving parts or if taking your treated with LPS3 item outside in colder temps (made a mistake once hunting rabbits at 0F and bolt stooped cycling in a semi-auto 22 :), so I do wipe off now when going hunting and target shooting in the cold- or at lest, the moving parts )... for long term safe storage, vaults, cabinets, crates - nothing better in my trials.

**Q: Would this be good to wipe on firearms for long term storage?**
A: I don't think I'd use it for that purpose ?  I'd do a little more investigating into the firearms coating compatibility for your long term purpose. I've only been using it to coat under my vehicles.

**Q: does this go on clear?**
A: Mitch,   lps 3 does not go on clear.  This is more of a lighter version of cosmsline,  a heavy petroleum parfin waxes.   The color is more a light tan and remains soft and tacky for quite some time.  Its perfect for anything you want to prevent rust or oxidation in humid environments.  Lps 3 is easily removed with brake cleaner.  For a more long term rust prevention you should look at lps Procyon which is hard coat dryfilm.

**Q: Can this be used for grills? Concerned about cooking after using it. Thanks in advance.**
A: I’ve always used it to protect my firearms while they are in storage. I heard that it could be used for anything and it was specifically designed with the restaurant industry in mind. However I do not know if that is true. If you use it on your grill be sure to cook it off before you start cooking your meat.

**Q: In years past (many years ago), i used to buy something called lps-4 that i used on metal surfaces on my boat (salt water exposed).  is this the same?**
A: This company makes LPS-1, LPS-2 and LPS-3.  I was introduced to LPS-2 and LPS-3 by a technician who served Craftsman snow throwers over 30 years ago . He recommended it for the chutes and parts that came in contact with snow to lubricate and prevent rust.  I have used it for years on various products, especially good for bearings on garage doors.  He did not have anything like LPS-4 and I have never seen it anywhere.  LPS sprays leave a thin self healing film to protect and lubricate metal.  It may work in a marine environment but I don't know.  It would likely cling to metal surfaces but for how long in a salt water environment, that's that question.

I was told this product is the end of rust in the workshop. I sprayed milling paralells, they rusted where they made contact. Sprayed a milling table, seen some rust afterward... Really not impressed. I feel I could have use butter and have the same result...
