I bought them because they are rust resistant and dishwasher safe...there is a paper with them that recommends handwashing. The first time I ran them through the dishwasher, they had a few rust spots. I'm thinking it is related to water quality in my area, but that was a little disappointing as they did not 'sit or 'rest' in water. They are sharp and cut clean. I use them to cut meat and oranges or watermelon too, and it does the job just fine. I would recommend but bear in mind they are not truly 'stainless steel'. For the cost, not a bad set of knives.
