Also you'd think that the belt might cause chafing, but I did a 3-hour+ swim yesterday and I have no marks at all.A extra bonus of carrying your mobile phone with you is you can use MapMyRun to record your swim using GPS. Groovy!Update after a couple of months' use: No defects, still super-useful, probably around 30 swims now. Particularly handy if you need to stop somewhere for a drink on the beach!Update after 6 months: I used this thing every couple of days in my 5+ months in Thailand, and always without a problem. I even loaded it up with drinks one time for an 8-hour marathon swim, and it coped admirably.Update after a year: I recently dug out my swim buoy over a year after purchase, this time for the Philippines. 6 months in a bag didn't seem to have caused any ill effects, so it was back to business as usual.
